Diego called out Rib, Rib got hurt feelings so he’s trying to one up Diego. Peru sucks balls but hey at least they qualified...my country did not. Did I miss anything else?

It is just pure luck they did great in qualification and got results against some of the best teams in the world.

Yeah, because that's exactly what I said... grow up (and watch some football)

Afterall, you watched those games with Peru in so that means much more than the results.

You seem obsessed with results (perhaps because that's pretty much the only information you have on Peru) but keep ignoring that, based on match results only, Peru would be 7th.

If they were, Chile, who probably are better, would be in the world cup.

Chile would indeed be playing New Zealand if they hadn't initiated a complaint about Bolivia using an irregular player during the competition.

You've now posted 11 times about Peru, a team you've admittedly never watched in your life. :D

      Not really!

Except that Peru haven't qualified yet, but hopefully they will by beating New Zealand.

Chile lost to Bolivia and they also had a match declared 3-0 victory for Bolivia fielding an ineligible player.

Anyone see the penalty awarded to Switzerland today? Shockingly unfair to Northern Ireland, especially given how important the match was.

Still, Switzerland were so much better in this game, it wouldn't seem fair for the home team to get a result. Is that they way they played to get to the playoff (Northern Ireland I mean)?

At least in the pub you'll have had some beer. I watched it at home.
Decent result away from home for TBIG, Denmark maybe deserved to scrap a win, just, but couldn't manage it.
As a football match, it was carnage, long balls, set pieces, pratically no passages of play ... but guess if you want flowing football, kick a ball into a river.  Its about qualifying, sets it up for a big night on Tuesday...

Saw most of the second half, I thought we had trouble breaking down bus parkers!!
Sweden defended well, but thought Italy really lacked any quality up front, as well as good service from the back.

Gutted for both The North and ROI. We were absolutely shafted by the referee against the Swiss and couldn't quite recover. Real shame that once again, sub par officiating has cost an entire country, something must be done to stop this rot of incompetence in football today. As for the Republic, stopping Eriksen must have been at the top of O'Neill's list, alas he really is a top talent, Bentner scoring is a bit of a slap in the face.

Wish the two teams would merge like the rugby, think it would be accepted by most (although there'd obviously be issues with those looking for it).

Proud of our lads overall. Tonight we froze and uncharacteristically we were defensively sh*te.

In a country with a population less than 5 million playing our 4th favoured sport, we've done okay!

In my opinion, and I have strong political beliefs but this is a forum so I will try and hold back.

To me, Ireland is Ireland. To me, Northern Ireland is the north of Ireland. If you want to represent anyone else then go live there. If you live in our country then represent our 32 counties. Combined we are stronger.

Hmmm. It was bad. Really bad. Did not expect that from Ireland. The Irish always make these dour tournaments a bit livelier because of their supporters (I'll never forget their efforts in Japan and South Korea - superb they were) but there's no excusing the football under Martin O Neill. It really is awful to watch and watching them would destroy the will power of a Buddhist monk (although in fairness you could say that about most international football these days!)

Granted - they can't do much about it due to a desperate lack of quality but that is why they aren't going to the World Cup so in the end Denmark were fully deserving of their place and they'll no doubt offer a lot more in a footballing sense to the tournament.

The problem was that Ireland were very open and chasing the game doesn't really suit them or o'neill and they were very exposed. Probably means the joys of roy keane as a pundit
