Just come across this on the Echo site and had no idea where to post it...

Liverpool and Hertha Berlin could share 125th birthday celebrations

Bundesliga outfit hoping Klopp will agree to a friendly double-header

      BY JAMES PEARCE
      16:33, 16 NOV 2016     UPDATED 16:33, 16 NOV 2016

Liverpool will celebrate their 125th anniversary next year and Hertha Berlin want to join the party.

The Bundesliga outfit reach the same milestone in 2017 and they are hoping that Jürgen Klopp will mark it by agreeing to play friendly matches both home and away.

Hertha BSC want to entertain Liverpool at the Olympiastadion next July followed by a return match at Anfield.

Klopp is friends with Hertha’s general manager Michael Preetz and last summer the Reds boss agreed to send young Brazilian midfielder Allan Rodrigues de Souza there on a season-long loan.

Liverpool would need to schedule the matches against Hertha around any pre-season tour commitments. Having visited America this year, the Reds are likely to head for Asia and possibly Australia too in 2017.

The side's have met in three previous pre-season friendlies, in 1973, 1994 and 2008, all played in Berlin. Rafa Benitez took his team there mist recently for a 0-0 draw.

Interesting proposition from Hertha, one that Klopp would probably agree to. We usually have a friendly at Anfield before the season starts anyway don't we? Maybe this could be the one for next summer after playing the 1st leg in Germany?

We normally alternate between Oz & America so it'll be your turn next year. There's always an epic atmosphere in Australia!

Good idea I reckon.  Friendlies have to be played in the summer - the summer is the only opportunity to mark the occasion with a first team game.

Anniversary the same for both clubs so yeah - why not.

Anyone remember what we did for the 100th anniversary?

Just had a quick scan around and couldn't find anything significant.

We got beat by Crystal Palace 1-0 away from home the day before it though haha

So this one is not far away, fits in right between the PL Asia competition and the Audi Cup.

Looks like Andy and Can will be joining up.

Robertson and Can to join teammates in training today
Andrew Robertson will join his new Liverpool teammates in training today, while Emre Can will also return to the group.

Robertson, who completed his switch from Hull City last Friday, will participate in a double session alongside the players who were part of the Reds' tour of Hong Kong for the first time.

Meanwhile, Can was back at Melwood on Saturday for testing after being afforded an extended summer break following his international commitments with Germany at the Confederations Cup.

He began his training programme on Sunday and will link up with the rest of the squad later this morning.

Liverpool will depart for Germany on Wednesday for a pre-season training camp and three friendly fixtures.

Good news on the injury front.

Mane and Ings to return to full training
Sadio Mane and Danny Ings will resume full training with the rest of the Liverpool squad on Tuesday after injury.

The Reds duo will join in with their teammates at Melwood for the first time during pre-season as they progress towards full fitness following their respective knee injuries.

Mane and Ings remained on Merseyside last week to continue their recovery programmes while their teammates toured Hong Kong, but both will be included in Jürgen Klopp’s party for this week’s trip to the manager’s homeland.

Liverpool fly out to Germany on Wednesday for a training camp and three friendlies against Hertha BSC, Bayern Munich and either Atletico Madrid or Napoli.

Mane has not played since sustaining an injury against Everton in April, while Ings missed the majority of last season after picking up his problem in the EFL Cup tie with Tottenham Hotspur in October.

Not sure if the game is actually on TV at all, I'd imagine just LFCTV. Last time we played them was in 2008 in a 0-0 friendly.

Hoping for a good run out for this one. :kop5cf8koxp6: :scarf:
