Liverpool 2-0 Leeds United: In game and Post Match discussion
      Nov 29, 2016 06:29:39 pm

      RIP & YNWA Chapecoense

Starting XI: Mignolet, Moreno, Klavan, Lucas, Alexander-Arnold, Stewart, Ejaria, Wijnaldum, Can, Mane, Origi

Subs: Karius, Lovren, Clyne, Henderson, Milner, Woodburn, Grujic

Liverpool have made eight changes for this evening’s EFL Cup quarter-final clash with Leeds United, with Divock Origi leading the line at Anfield.

There are also places in the XI for Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ovie Ejaria, while Ben Woodburn is again named on the bench.

Only Georginio Wijnaldum, Emre Can and Sadio Mane retain positions in the starting line-up from the team deployed against Sunderland on Saturday.

Lucas Leiva captains the Reds tonight.

No Grujic is the only real surprise, he was brilliant in pre-season. Maybe, he is not working so hard in training. Ejaria is playing instead of him and at the moment he is in front of him in the list.

Anything other than a win is a failure with the team being played and that we are at home.

He got injured at the recent internationals mate so I'm guessing he's not quite ready for a start yet.

Good team that, could line up either 4231 or 433.

Agreed. I can see Origi and Ejaria getting on the scoresheet tonight

Sorry, did not know about it. I liked what I saw in the pre-season from him. But he always looked a little soft to play in the starting XI, he needs to train and spend some time in the gym.

Big changes from the weekend but just the 2 changes from our last League Cup game against Spurs.

Can and Mane in for Grujic and Sturridge.

A weakened team, and not much firepower on the bench, bit nervous to be honest, but we really should have enough for Leeds at home.

Looking forward to seeing Ejaria and thinking Grujic is a surprise to be left out when all the changes are considered.

Good chance for a lot of players to stake a claim moving forward, there's chances there for the first team to be taken, grab them lads.

That's a pretty strong line up and a bit surprising but nice to see Klopp is taking this seriously we should have more than enough to beat a mid table Championship side.

Interesting to see if Klopp goes with the diamond and Wij at No 10.

Nice mix of experience and youth. Should have way too much for them.

Strong line up? the whole defence replaced incl goalie, new front line except Mane, only 2 regular midfielders, how weak a team were you expecting? :-)

Why are you nervous? Our team is far superior to theirs. The only two who aren't first team regulars are Trent & Ejaria.

Why are you shitting your pants? Look at our front line, midfield and defence compare them to Leeds, ever heard of any of their players..........no thought not, we are not playing Bayern!

It's as good an opportunity to give them a game as any, as much as we all want to win the competition I'd rather give games to squad options who aren't getting playing time in the league with one game a week currently in a home tie against championship opposition, for the simple reason they need games, what if we suffer more injuries and we bring these lads in cold having had zero or very little football?

That side should be good enough to beat this Leeds side who have made 4/5 changes from their last game.

With the current injuries up front we don't have many other options anyway,  Ings, Sturridge, Coutinho all injured plus Ojo..
Our options up there are limited

That lineup should be more than capable of getting a routine win against Leeds.

I'm not really that nervous, I fully expect us to win, think I've said that a few times now, but I wouldn't call it a strong line up, I think even Klopp alluded to that. I agree its a good opportunity for the the fringe players though.

Firmino and Matip both got minor knocks - hope they're sorted for the weekend!  Last thing we need before December is to start collecting injuries.
