PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN are preparing a £40million January bid for Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho.

The French club failed with a £22m offer for the Brazilian forward last summer, but are ready to come back again with a double-your-money offer for a player they have coveted for some time.

Coutinho, 24, has been out for seven weeks with ankle ligament problems, and Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp has ruled him unlikely to return in time for the New Year's Day top-of-the-table clash with Manchester City.

But PSG will move in anyway - although they face competition from both Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Coutinho is aware of PSG's interest and has become unsettled at Anfield with the prospect of trophies being more readily achievable abroad.

The talented forward, who Liverpool signed for just £8.5m from Inter Milan four years ago, is a player that Klopp is desperate to keep, but privately the Anfield club feel it is likely he will move on in the summer.

Sources close to Coutinho have indicated that his close friend Neymar has told Barcelona that Coutinho would be open to a move to the Nou Camp, but the Spanish club want to wait until the end of the season before making a move.

Coutinho is likely to wait until the summer before making any decision on his future.

The word is/his agent's opinion appears to be that Coutinho will get more international exposure with the likes of PSG and one of his associates supposedly agrees, does sound like bollocks but that's how it usually kicks off,

May well occur in the summer but by then he will have been part of a premier league wining team so he may well stay

What can they actually offer that we can't? They are sitting 3rd in the league for a start, no threat in the Champions League and have no real attraction to them. They had to wait a year to sign Di Maria because they were on the brink of being royally fu**ed by FFP.

Wouldn't sell our magician for any price really. So much money around in football these days that it all goes to not very much in the end. Surely the club have 70 million we could spend if we wanted to, even without sales.

Whilst I don't think for one minute we would entertain a bid for Coutinho perhaps now would be the right time to offer the lad a new contract that pays him his market worth? I suspect the lad could comfortably command 150-200k per week at another club. To put it in to context James Milner earns double the amount of our best player. They need to put it right.

Won't happen, if he goes anywhere, it will be Barca in the summer to link up with Suarez & Neymar not PSG.

Phil's not going anywhere till summer. And when we win the league he may change his mind as Suarez and Neymar will be wanting to come HERE to play with Phil.

Coutinho seems he's really enjoying life in Liverpool and I'm 100% sure he won't leave in the winter,as for the summer i think it depends on whether we get CL football next year(which looks very likely right now)
