"That was....a supreme save by Kelleher"
Ok, it was originally said 50+ years ago about a save by Clemence down the other end, but the crowd reaction on Wednesday to his save was much the same.
It may be his last European Cup game at this club, but it took him just 1 game to face Real Madrid, and win. How many goes has "the best keeper in the world" had?
The Club isn't going to put up it's best keeper (and one of the best in the World) for sale, just because he had the misfortune to get injured.
Kelleher isn't far behind him and has proven his quality over and over, but you don't shift a keeper like Alisson just because K. has been on top form...when you put a Liverpool shirt on you are expected to be very very good. Having said all that I still can't see what was the thinking behind buying the Georgian.
Getting injured once is misfortune. Getting injured twice in 3 weeks is odd. Getting the same injury 4 times in a year means reasonable questions have to be asked, whether he's still up to the job? It certainly doesn't give him the entitlement to wander straight in again as if nothing has happened.
As I said at the time, it has been a seamless transition since he got injured again, there has been no drop off in performance and no impact in results. Caoimhin has done everything asked of him and never let us down. So there's no reason from a football point of view to justify dropping him.
