Nathaniel Clyne starts and Sadio Mane is on the bench for Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Chelsea at Anfield tonight.

Clyne has been passed fit after a recent abdominal/rib injury and takes his place in a defence that also includes Joel Matip.

Meanwhile, Mane is named among the substitutes following his return from Africa Cup of Nations duty with Senegal on Monday evening.

Shame Mane doesn't make the XI but consistent from Jürgen in that respect. I'd much prefer Lallana in the midfield, not just for what he can do to unlock the Chavs but I think he's give us that extra energy in there that Can doesn't provide.

Enormous match, which I don't think we can overhaul them in the league it would do worlds for confidence and of course keep that door from completely slamming shut.

Let's keep the 3 points at Anfield and send these packing with nothing but sorrows for London.

For the first time this season, I feel we aren't going to be coming away with anything more than a draw at best unfortunately.

everyone is behind the lads, but the decision to play Can is baffling.

we should of started Mane, and then taken him off rather than the opposite.

Dont want to see any silly free kicks given away and the defense needs to carry smelling salts in the socks and sniff it every 5 mins to keep awake and alert

The lineup is what i expected. Its 1 player away from full strength so there can be no excuses. We can give these a game and beat them with room to spare.

Hope Can has a good game. Not happy to see him in the team though.

Hopefully they put more effort in than they have in recent weeks.

Trouble is though, out of the 2, only one of them knows how to utilize their pace effectively and it's not Origi.

I think everyone wants Mane to start, but no one knows (apart from Klopp of course) how the lad feels both mentally and physically. If he's fine, we'll see him in the second half.

Both Can and Wijnaldum have actually played pretty well in our big games this season. Wijnaldum had some of his best performances away to Chelsea, at home to City and at the mancs. Let's hope he produces another performance like that. Can did pretty well in the second half against the mancs too and always seems to raise his game on occasions like this. Think we're going to need some of his physicality against the likes of Kante and Matic in midfield.

Let's give both lads the benefit of the doubt.
