Cognitive dissonance. We all know that no player or coach (since the 70s) did or does give a f*ck for the club, they just do it because of the money and use the tradition and fans to deflect from the real reasons. We all know that the whole Club (since the 70s) did or does give a f*ck about its fans, it's just a corporation eventually that wants to generate money and needs fans to do so. There is no instrinsic reason anymore like love, pride, honor, belonging or genuine affection. We, the fans, have it, but not them. But still we fans love our team because we basically close our eyes and pretend we matter and pretend thoese fellas love to play @Anfield.
But more and more we can't close our eyes, the real people walk away, they go down to some 5th or 6th league team, because there everything is still more authentic.
So all the ex players who frequent Anfield, some on a pretty regular basis, some occasionally traveling from miles around the world. They are all visiting for what ? why haven't they had their pay off, taken the money and run ?
or perhaps they're hanging around because they think the club still owes them a few bob eh ?
