Mark Clattenburg leaves Premier League with immediate effect

Looks like he is off to Saudi, shame as he is one of the few decent refs in the EPL.

Decent last year but he's been absolutely awful this season. His performance in the Arsenal v Hull match was one of the worst I've seen in years.

      Won't be missed.

Sure it's purely footballing reasons why he is going there and not at all financial related...

Don't mind Clattenburg.  Didn't he take advice off Gerrard one game to send off one of the blueshite.

Thought he was one of the better refs in the league if I'm being honest - there's a whole lot of sh*t on the current list.

Clearly wasn't liked by the suits because he was a young fella who enjoyed the benefits of professionalism.  Good luck to the fella - I wouldn't be a ref.  Hope he doesn't get any decisions wrong in Saudi Arabia because I'm fairly sure they have a different idea of punishment than we do in this country.

Has ruined more games of football than I've ever seen. A perennial bottler on big calls and a whistle happy c**t in the middle of the pitch causing all his games into stop start affairs. One of the worst senior referees the country has ever seen, he can F***ing stay in Saudi Arabia, good riddance.

Wasn't he the ref that sent 2 Everton players off, but let Kuyt stay on after almost breaking somebody's leg? He also could have gave CIty a penalty when we won 3-2 but he didn't. I think he has been good to us in some games.

He was definitely one of the top refs in the league. £500k a year isn't to be sniffed at for a ref though. The Premier League is behind Italy, Spain, Germany & France when it comes to paying officials.

Personally thought he was a decent ref. Refereed our 3-0 battering of the Manc Inc in 2014. His departure will just highlight the sub standard refereeing in the league to an even greater extent.

Clearly a man motivated by money though with this move.

To be honest though, refs aren't paid a huge amount in comparison to footballers. And in this country you are on a hiding to nothing, grief every single week no matter what.

If I was in his position I would do it, one year there will set him up for life!

Yeah that's true. I probably underestimate just how little they do get paid.

Not too shabby for 90 mins work twice a week, plus expenses & freebies.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't implying he was a pauper! But it's not a salary that will set him up for life. Going to Saudi Arabia for one year means he's absolutely sorted.
