Liverpool FC appoint a new CEO

Former EA man Peter Moore will take over from Ian Ayre

Liverpool Football Club have tonight appointed their new chief executive officer to replace Ian Ayre.

Peter Moore joins the Reds - who were soundly beaten 3-1 by Leicester City on Monday night - from Electronic Arts (EA) based in the US and will move to Liverpool to join the Club in the summer.

Liverpool-born Moore starts in June and will report directly to club owners, FSG.

He is currently Chief Competition Officer at EA where he has held a a number of positions for the last 10 years including Chief Operating Officer and President of EA SPORTS.

The 61 year-old has previously held senior roles with Microsoft, SEGA and Reebok. He holds a bachelor's degree from Keele University in the UK and a master's degree from California State University.


The appointment completes a transition plan by FSG which included appointing Michael Edwards while Billy Hogan was promoted to the role of managing director and chief commercial officer.

Andy Hughes, who was previously chief financial officer, was made chief operating officer in February.

LFC said the appointment "finalises the senior management structure at the Club."

Ian Ayre leaves LFC tomorrow and will take up a position at 1860 Munich.

Typed Peter Moore into Google. Came up with some serial killer from the mid 90s who stabbed and mutilated 'men for fun'. He befriended Harold Shipman in prison.

What if it's HIM they appointed and not the flashy EA Sports, Windows suit? Irregardless, it'd still be a better PR move than 'Being Liverpool'.

This guy may end up being a great CEO, but why the hell do you announce this information after a lifeless performance and loss like this? Really reeks of a desperate PR move. An insult to the intelligence of (most) supporters.
