Tbh mate I don't think loads have thrown in the towel, it's more the frustration of watching this team constantly throw away games we should in all honestly be winning.

I know we blow hot and cold but Uniteds fixture list is horrendous.

They are away at City tomorrow. They will drop points. I expect City to beat them but hopefully they will deploy the same tactics they did at Anfield and it finishes a draw. United won't win though.

They then have Swansea at home. You would expect them to win, but Swansea are fighting for their lives. They turned up and beat us so if they can do that then they can beat United. Its not a given.

Then they have Celta Vigo away, Arsenal away, Celta Vigo home and then Spurs away in the space of ten days. That's when they will really drop off. They aren't getting 6 points there.

Their last two games are away at Southampton and then at home to Palace. Again, none are easy!

Arsenal have stoke away, spurs away, Southampton away. They aren't getting 9 points there.

To summarise, if we win our remaining games then top four is a given. I think 3 wins will be enough though. And I fully expect us to go to both west ham and Watford and take maximum points and then beat boro at home too.  Southampton at home we can afford a draw presuming we get the other points.

Not sure about all the Math, but I agree with your main point that making the CL or not comes down to what we do. Win out and we're in. Drop any more points and we're counting on others and I don't like that feeling at all.

Could have done with the gooners dropping some points tonight so that late goal is a killer. the late spuds goal is a good thing for us because they have still to play Arsenal so we want them to still be in with a shot at the title. We could really use a Man City win in the derby tomorrow night and then we need to win our last 4 games. It's as simple as that. I'm just not sure we have it in us. We don't look like a team who will score 3-4 goals in a game anymore and the defence is good for one clean sheet in about 5-6. I think that's where the lack of confidence comes from.

It is actually irrelevant to us now in the points tally.
Looked like some were going to drop points all round tonight ... but fate plays her hand.

      BTW Off topic.

Dortmund in the German Cup Final v Eintracht.

      They just beat Bayern.

Definitely as it means they have something to play for against Arsenal and Utd.

It's certainly not good for the aul heart and it is crazy to think we went from 'cert top 4, maybe champs' [pre transfer window] to 'squeaky bum relying on others' [with 4 games left] but...

... you can't deny it is exciting.  😁

I dunno buddy; I'd be thrilled as F**k if we were sitting 13 points clear, with 4 to go, for number 19. 😉

      Was about to say similar.

More exciting would have been buying a couple of players in January and seeing if we could stay with Chelsea and try and win the title.

I can't imagine for a minute that the manager didn't take that fact into account Si.
We are getting the payback now, as pointed out earlier - so predictable.

Perhaps he can bring his 16 years experience to the fore and instruct our current crop of defenders all about reading the game, when to tackle, where to tackle, and when the ball needs to be hoofed.
Since Carra stop playing Liverpool has never learnt to deal with players like Benteke... We have a average back four there no one takes charge, no one speaks to each other and passes on there responsibility... we need quality defenders, leaders with heart and fight...

Huge game this evening, if Utd win then it will start to become uncomfortable, if they lose then we are back in control. I'm really not worried about Arsenal though, they can't be lucky forever plus they still have to play Utd, so one or both of them will drop points in that game.
We just have to focus on beating Watford and then see where we stand, if we lose that one then its starts to get a bit tricky but I really fancy us to bounce back, especially with Adam back in the team. We didn't play that bad against Palace, at no point did they really dominate us like they at times did Spurs last night.

Looking at the table I just realised Utd, City, and Arsenal can overtake us if they win their games in hand, with only Arsenal having to make sure their GD is superior to ours, and they only need five goals in two games. That's possible, though it won't be easy, but the real trouble is the other two teams.

We might just have royally screwed ourseleves. Again.
