Three appearances, three to four years ago, think it's safe to say that doesn't really count as an international career!

I'm not suggesting he's a world beater, but Spain have had the best talent pool in the world over the last 10 years.  To even get a single cap for the senior side is impressive.

He was like to kid who could see the sweetie jar with the open goal in front of him.
Had to laugh. Just pleased we were seeing the game out ahead.

      Another inspired purchase ?  ?  ?

      Move on and get rid.

Reports abound that we have rejected an offer of £11m from Napoli, we are asking £15m

Liverpool reject £11 million bid from Napoli for Alberto Moreno

Lverpool have rejected an £11 million bid from Napoli for left-back Alberto Moreno.

The Spanish defender was a rare starter last season, but the Merseyside club has put a £15 million price tag on the 24-year-old and is awaiting bigger offers.

There has been plenty of interest in the full-back, with both Milan clubs exploring the possibility of a deal.....

Must admit I thought he'd do well for us when we signed him. Said at the time you'd see a few "WTF" moments but with him converting from a winger I believed we'd see progress in his defensive game but that just didn't progress nearly well enough.

One of those players that seems to have all the raw ingredients to make it he just can't apply himself with nearly enough discipline or restraint.

Afraid even with all the natural abilities it's still what goes on upstairs that seems to matter most and Alberto, while a funny guy, is just missing a hamster for that wheel of his.

£15m would be a great price. Wish him all the very best wherever he goes.

Strange that Napoli are supposedly after him. They've got Ghoulam who's pretty well rated.

      Suppose he must be leaving...

Interesting ploy, take their £11m, give them Moreno and then give them their £11m back for Ghoulam.

Does make it look like we've given them more than Moreno as a straight swap for Ghoulam, could work :D

I wouldn't. Especially in today's market, his age and how it's their opening bid.

Could be worse; he could wake up looking like Ed Sheerin... right down to the comb over.  😄

We're talking about Moreno here, we'd be lucky if we get more than 15 mil for him.

I would give him out for free. ;D

But no disrespect to the player, but I would be upset if LFC paid 11 million quid for the lad.

May be a good player but just doesn't fit in with our style of play.

Are you saying we should buy Moreno from ourselves? That seems bit crazy to me. I know we love the guy and all but surely not.  :f_doh: :f_tongueincheek:

He could work in a system that implements proper wing backs.

Seems a great lad but my god is he sh*te. And hopefully his departure means a proper fullback comes in.

My enduring memory of Alberto will always be his complicity in us conceding the equaliser to Sevilla just second after the second half started. Told me everything we needed to know about him as a player. Quite often sh*t players can put aside their shittiness in big finals. He didn't. In fact he magnified his shittiness in that final.

This transfer market is a sellers market as we have seen with some of the ridiculously outrageous asking prices for marginal players so far. I would hold for 15 mil. I really do think we will get it if we wait long enough. Moreno is a decent talent who just doesn't fit into Klopps scheme. The thing that always frustrated me about him is he can often play some stupid football. The West Brom game a few months back summed up Alberto for me. The dude comes in with 4 to go in a 1-0 game and screws up a 3 on 1 attack by shooting in a keeper-less goal from damn near midfield. I almost lost my mind  :-\

Yea, think that was the game (Sevilla) that finished him in many peoples minds. Though there were plenty of others...

Swans offered 13mill?   For a guy who can't defend, seems like a good offer. Tho maybe we want a bit more if we refused Napoli bid of 11mill (if true))

Pity, if he could just defend, and had more positional sense, he has the attacking part of the game. At 24, you'd think he'd have learned those basics though

If he has anything about him he'll be dying to get away to a new club, try and kickstart his career. Still young, so good luck to him.

I'm just happy we're getting decent bids for him. He needs to move on for ours as well as his own sake, and that should also increase the likelihood of us signing a proper LB.

Dont remind me of Basel, mate. The best trip of my life turned to the worst by full time. Remember sitting there slumped in my seat with Diego at the end of the game. Havent watched a second of that game since.

Wow, thought we would be lucky to get an offer of anything over 7 for him. Club holding out for 15mill might be pushing it but if we manage to get that then well played for sure!

So much promise and technical skill. Just no brain to use it. Or no coach to coach it? Who knows...well we all know it's his brain really.

Still, let's remember the good times.
