One of the more disappointing signings in my lifetime.

There was a lot of hype around us getting him, I hadn't seen much of him really but got well and truly caught up in the excitement.

The Spurs goal was a great moment, thought we had the potential to have solved leftback for years.

Then the slow realisation the lad is not usually that good going forward but is also can't defend and is immensely stupid.

Really glad we saw f**k all of him last season. For all the jokes about Southampton players, we deffo been better with Bertrand.

Just more flashes of what could have been...the pace to outrun Mane as well.

Did Jürgen not fancy Sigurdsson at one time ,looks like our neighbours £30 million has been knocked back so adding 2+2 , if Bertie and a few pounds were put together , could it possibly see him as an option, Ive only seen him a few times and he seems capable .

I think his position is filled in our squad now but I agree with you. He's fantastic and wasted at Swansea. Potentially a replacement for Barkley and an upgrade, too.

      Edit: wrong thread. But meh.

I think that one goes back to even before Klopp.  Could be wrong but seems like something we wanted more than a year ago.

Didn't Brendan pull the plug as he thought Sigurrdsson was asking for too much money and he felt he wasn't quite worth it?

      2012 report.

      You're right Si.

Rodgers wanted him whilst manager at Swansea and then when he moved to Liverpool still wanted Sigurdsson to move to his new club.
Rodgers admits in the article that he wasn't prepared to offer the player anymore money than the Swansea deal .
Small club manager  ..... small club mentality.

Perhaps the truth will come out one day on how many good deals were fu**ed up by Rodgers small time mentality coupled with an out of depth big time ego.

      Like this D'ya mean..............

                    Mbappe.   Firmino
                  Salah.                   Mane
                              Coutinho
                    Keita.                  Emre
                   Lovren.    VVD.   Matip
                                Mignolet

D'ya think that would work, or is the balance not quite right?

Get what yer saying Skip and I acknowledge your opinion on TPM, as for Siggy I'm of the opinion he's a big fish in a small pond and perhaps not so big to swim with our bigger fish in our ever expanding pond,
Decent player but I think he would have found it very tough here, Question we got to ask is, is he any better than we have now?
Would you put him in ahead of a fully fit Hendo,  Can or Gini?
      No, not in my opinion.

As much as you want to believe that mate I doubt Rodgers had anything to do with how much wages we offer a player.

For me I don't think that anyone lowballed on that occasion just that Brendan having worked with the player before felt he knew what his value was and decided he wasn't worth any more.

Just to be clear skip... are 'we' believing everything BR said now or just some of the things? 😒

I'm happy to go with "everything" by the way. 😉

Since we are believing BR... he wanted VvD [according to him] but the scouts didn't rate the lad. Swings and F***ing roundabouts; right? 😁

He came out with so many soundbites (aimed at his employers)  and a whole load of other stuff to the media ... I never knew what to believe at the end .

And yet you believed him enough to directly quote him?  Hmm... 😄

So anyhows: given that Rodgers is long gone, moving on...  how much will it really take to prise Alberto from our clutches?

I mean: he's not wanted and he's not used - is there any real point in F***ing about with this one?  🤔
