Was not a primary target and is a player we could have got without Champions League Football. Our two primary targets where Van Dyke, which we messed up, and Keita, which we're obsessing over, with neither looking even remotely like they'll end up in a Red Shirt this Summer.

Might not have been for you but he was a primary target for Klopp.

Well done Virgil that's the sort of commitment we wanted to see.

      Now Let's wait and see.

I hate players striking. What happens if we sign him and in a few years Barca come in for him but we refuse to sell? Is he going to strike then?

I'd be lying if I said I didn't want him still though.

This is the push we needed VVD or Keita to give us to make the deal happen. Glad to see Dijk is willing to so his part and force their hand. At this point I would love for us to focus our attention on Virg and getting this deal done. The Kieta thing just seems to be a null and void at this point anyway. Hash this thing out with South Hampton and move to plan B at mid field. Along with that , not selling Phillip, and the moves that have already been done (Dom, Mo, and Andy) it would do a lot to show fans that the boys at FSG are finally living up to their end of the deal.

Liverpool target Virgil van Dijk ordered to train alone at Southampton after telling club he wants to leave

Virgil van Dijk is training alone at Southampton after telling the club he wants to leave.

The Holland defender was a target for Liverpool earlier this summer, only for interest to be withdrawn after Southampton reported the Anfield club to the Premier League for tapping up.
But the 26-year-old has outlined his desire to exit the south-coast club, prompting Pellegrino to banish him from the first-team
      setup.

'The boy said that he is not available to play because he wants to leave,' Pellegrino told the Daily Echo. 'This is the decision.

'I had to say 'if you don’t want to be involved because you don’t feel OK then you have to train alone until this period of time happens'

'My relationship with Virgil is excellent. I was clear with the boy, and I was talking from the first day with him.

'The club was clear. The club told me they will not sell Virgil.

'Now he is not involved with the team because psychologically he is not 100 per cent. If you are not 100 per cent with the team I need to work with the players who are 1000 per cent to defend Southampton. It’s easy for me.'

Tell you what, while I want Keita if we ended up keeping Phil, getting VVD along with Salah and a left back and maybe Chambo I am ok because we really did address the issues of last season.

      New LB  (Check)
      Another Mane  (Check)
      Boss CB  (Check)

It may work out where in the end Keita comes later and Phil leaves....OK it's going to be what it's going to be as long as were not trading Phil for dross like we did with Suarez.

I don't think this gaffer does dross.

Apparently Kieta is also training alone:

Wont read too much into this.. Suarez was asked to train alone when Arsenal bid 40,00,001.

I don't like this. The forced move from the player. It's hypocritical.

We hate it when Suarez did it. We would hate it if Coutinho did it to move to Barcelona...

Yet we are delighted when players we want to buy go and do it..

Of course we hate it. We have something to offer our players unlike Southampton.

And don't start with your anti Suarez 'I was glad to get rid of Luis' nonsense again.

In related news, this just in: Keita has sh*t his pants on the team bus, but only after padlocking the doors shut and trapping the rest of the team inside.

He says the key is in his bum and he'll only unlock when he gets his move.

I would like to see both VVD and Keita arrive at Anfield, but keeping Coutinho is a priority over both possible moves. Phil must stay.
