Your probably right, but I do think this Costa mess has been holding them back here of late. I could see them put in a bid for Van Dijk this week (if we are to believe that Costa will be dealt)

Do Chelsea need another CB though and are they going to be able to push out of the running? If reports are true then VVD really wants to come here, that must count for something.

I think and hope that an agreement is already in place and the clubs are waiting for nearer deadline day so that Southampton can easier sell it to their fans. I think it is very telling that no other clubs are in for him, that means that his agent is telling the other clubs something but if VVD was openly on the market you'd have a lot of clubs bidding.

Sadly I think we want their desire for VVD to be real and thus they put in a bid. It seems we will only put a bid in if someone else does.

It's not a 1 in 1 out or sell to buy policy at Chelsea. If they want a player then they will go out and get them. Don't see how them selling a striker can have any baring on whether they sign a defender.

Haha. I get what u guys are saying. However, reports say they have an interest in VVD. I have also been told by a buddy who is a Chelsea supporter that this Costa business was numero uno on the their things to get straight and once they cleared up that mess look for them to turn their attention to bringing in other players to improve the squad and keep Conte happy. I assume he got that off his forum the way we get all of our news. Could be people bull shitting for all I know. Just giving y'all my "insider" scoop.

Nice post, looks like your scoops are way more juicy than mine. I shouldn't feel this way, but my gut tells me we end up getting him. With that said my gut is sh*t, to much black coffee and Taco Bell 🤦‍♂️

We'll probably wait till about midday on deadline day. Then there'll be a VVD mobile which will get stuck in traffic on the M62, the paperwork will get held up and we will miss out signing him by 15 minutes. We will have "bust a gut" obviously, but we "won't quite have managed to get the deal over the line".

I have a funny feeling we may be waiting to beat Hoffenheim before bidding for anyone.
