Paul Joyce so, maybe the club has leaked to him because we're interested or they just want it to look like we are.

      Poll added for a laugh.

£20 million plus Sakho should do the trick, would be a great signing from our feeder club.

We'll match anyones bid, and I mean absolutely anyones no matter what it is, then offer him 50K a week. Then it'll be "we couldn't get it over the line/his wife preferred Manchester or London or whetever it is. We tried our best though".

This is where you heard it first.

Seems that Sakho's form has us hoping for £30 million for him from somebody. If that does come in and we do decide to meet the asking price of the £50 million being touted around by chucking another £20 million at it, which I doubt straight away we will do, more like £10 million, we won't compete with the wages that City and Chelsea will offer. IMO anyway.

Edit- this is where you heard it 'second'. ;)

£50 mill (club value Sakho at 30mill and paid almos 20 mill for him) is laughable

he is no where near one of the better defenders in the league and has not turned Southampton into a better team (i.e from the Lovren days) im fed up with overpaying for average talent

He would need to be one of the best CBs in the league's history to justify paying £50m.

These stupid valuations seem to come out of thin air.

Good player though by all accounts.

He's good but he's not 50m good. Not even in this crazy market.

If Klopp wants VVD and doesn't want to keep Sakho (madness in my opinion), then a swap plus £10 million is more than fair...

      Hummels was 30 million...

Then again Stones was 50 million.

      What a strange world.

Why is not wanting to keep a disruptive player madness? I'm baffled as to how many people don't understand such a simple situation.

      Bayern (Hummels, Boateng & Martínez)
PSG (Marquinhos, Thiago Silva & Kimpembe)
Chelsea (Terry, Cahill, Luiz, Zouma & Azpilicueta)
Man City (Kompany, Stones & Otamendi)
Man Utd (Rojo, Jones, Smalling & Bailly)
Juventus (Chiellini, Benatia, Bonucci & Rugani)
Barcelona (Piqué, Mascherano, Umtiti & Mathieu)
Real Madrid (Pepe, Ramos & Varane)
Liverpool (Matip, Lovren, Gomez & Sakho)

So which team actually needs VVD more? If we can't sell swap Sakho for VVD, we should spend the £50m+ on a left back & GK/DM.

First thought, those bold bits must have taken ages :D.

Second thought, something tells me Klopp wants Karius for the long term and could possibly stick with what we've got unless Mignolet wants a move and we bring in a back up to Karius.

He's a big aul unit and a tidy footballer into the bargain. I can see why so many are keeping an eye on him.

Could we win a bidding war with some of the teams linked? Hmm...

Well, I won't be holding my hand on my arse while I'm waiting on that (or having a bet on it). 😕

Bold bits wasn't the problem, the names were and took quite a while!!!

I think you are right about Karius, and as for Migs, I think he has played very well since returning, and would understand if Klopp decided against a new GK.

Anyway, as you mentioned before along with others, having Sakho or VVD alone, perhaps even a new left back would probably not solve our defensive "problems". It was like this at Dortmund too? It's just how Klopp likes his football, we will always be more vulnerable in defense because of our high pressing and offense minded attack? And with this being, perhaps it would be stupid to pay £50m on a single defender.

      :lmao:

It doesn't take a genius to work out that he's been disruptive to what Klopp wants to achieve within the squad. Why do you think he's not playing for us atm? Klopp has it out for him? Sakho fancied a long trip to London?

To be honest I think this is one of the transfers that we should pull all the stops out for, he is big and strong and can play football, I think he would be a fantastic partner for Matip and can possibly be an integral part of our team.

I don't recall seeing him have a bad game, but what really pisses me off about this is the fact that the scouts turned him down when Rodgers was here!

My fear re a swap is that Sakho won't want to play at Southampton but would rather be in London (or go back to France).

I expect Allardyce will make a pretty good bid for Mama.

And yet we know enough about it for Sakho to have broken squad rules on a number of occasions.

Unless you're insinuating that Klopp isn't telling the truth?

So are Michael Beales quotes are to be ignored then? In that Klopp hasn't forgiven Sakho for missing Europa league final? There are always two sides to a story...

So Klopp made all that up with regards to Sakho breaking squad rules in pre season?

Not saying Sakho is innocent in this. But what has he done that's so terrible?

Been found guilty of racially abusing another player? Tried to force his way out through court? Bit another player and subsequently banned?

The answer is obviously no to all of those, but for whatever reason we all forgave Suarez for doing the above.

I think there is more to this than stated by club, player or manager...
