      Goals that saved games 2016-17
      May 02, 2017 10:18:09 am
After last night's goal I thought I'd compile a list of the goals which have turned defeats into draws and draws into wins from this league season.

I've obviously excluded games when we've beaten teams by more than a goal or where the opposition have come back to take points off us.

      Have I missed any?

      Swansea (A) - Milner (84') 2-1
      Crystal Palace (A) - Matip (44') 3-2 [FT: 4-2]
      West Ham (H) - Origi (48') 2-2
      Everton (A) - Mane (94') 1-0
      Man City (H) - Wijnaldum (8') 1-0
      Chelsea (H) - Wijnaldum (57') 1-1
      Burnley (H) - Emre Can (61') 2-1
      Stoke City (A) - Firmino (73') 2-1
      West Brom (A) - Firmino (45+1) 1-0
      Watford (A) - Emre Can (45+1) 1-0

Connected to the games above here are some other important goals

      Swansea (A) - Firmino (55') 1-1 [FT: 2-1]
      Burnley (H) - Wijnaldum (45') 1-1 [FT: 2-1]
      Stoke (A) - Coutinho (70') 1-1 [FT: 2-1]

Thought it was interesting pointing out how involved Emre Can, Wijnaldum and Firmino have been in these situations compared to the likes of Mane, Coutinho and Lallana.

Can and Gini have become quite the pair for the 2nd part of the season.
Gini having a bit of a lull, but Can stepping up now.
A destroyer in there and we'd have quite the midfield.

I think the hope for Can is that he will be the destroyer. At the moment he is emerging as a good all rounder. Seems the second half of this year has made this his breakout season.

Wijnaldum goes missing in games, especially away from home. I think what our midfield has needed for a long time now is variety.

Can, Lucas, Wijnaldum, Henderson all very similiar really.

I think Klopp has hopes of landing Naby Keita - he is a proper destroyer in which case Gini imo is likely to find himself more often on the bench.
