Liverpool 0-0 Southampton: In game and Post Match discussion
      May 07, 2017 12:29:33 pm

      Anfield, this afternoon

Mignolet, Clyne, Lovren, Matip, Milner, Can, Lucas, Wijnaldum, Coutinho, Firmino, Origi.

Subs: Karius, Moreno, Grujic, Sturridge, Alexander-Arnold, Lallana, Klavan.

Philippe Coutinho is fit to start for Liverpool as Jürgen Klopp names an unchanged line-up for this afternoon’s Premier League clash with Southampton.

The Brazilian has recovered from the thigh injury sustained at Watford on Monday night as the Reds pick the same side for the fourth successive game.

Adam Lallana and Daniel Sturridge are again on the bench.

I think it's a joke Sturridge not starting.

      No Lallana? Bit surprised.
      Cou starts, so that's great.
Would've liked to have seen Studge in the 1st XI but Origi was always Klopp's more likely starter.
At least have some bench options.
Expecting a tricky game. Hope we run out easy, but sometimes when you expect that, opposite happens.
So get at them from the start, tempo high, and have to be more clinical taking chances than last week.
A win would take the wind out of the chasers.
Lovely day for a match :)

C'mon the reds, would rather Lallana and Sturridge started as they both looked sharp last time out, but them being on the bench gives us options if the games not going our way.

To be honest, I understand that Sturridge is on the bench, but why on Earth, Lallana is on the bench ???

Nonetheless, we can make it. Come on Reds.

He's only useful as an impact sub.

      Last 20 mins.

Doesn't work hard enough over a full game in the rare games he actually lasts 90 mins.

I'm moderately surprised although I can't remember him having a great game against them since he left them

Was just about to say the same thing........on the flip side - he's due one and must be itching to play as was in best form of his career in my opinion.

Fair point, that might be part of it, playing against old club.
Though for a pro on whatever number of grand per week, would expect him to bust a gut against whoever the opposition is.

I figure Klopp's wants to make sure he's fit for the rest of the season and that this has to do with him playing a big chunk of game last week. I bet if Lallana's hadn't been needed to replace Couts at Watford, he would be starting this one.

Klopp keeping a couple of ace's up his sleeve by the look of it. Not a bad tactic.

Sly doing more of a build up to the Arsenal/United game. Bigger game than ours to be fair.

Three matches with today's left. If we had more than seven, I would have agreed with you but I disagree.

Maybe Jürgen is being cautious with Coutinho after him taking a knock and is keeping Lallana as back up in case our wizard feels delicate and gets F***ing hacked again.

Standard lineup. Will be interesting to see how Lucas does. Amazing away from home of late but shoddy at Anfield.

Keeping Sturridge on the bench, risky as he is, like him or loath him, a genuine goal scorer. If we get T4 more or less without him, it's on the cards he'll be sold.
