And a point is far from the worst result.  4 point takes from our next 2 games should be enough to see us clinch 4th place.

How are you so sure? Do you expect the Manc to drop more than 3 points in their remaining games? If we lose any more point we're risking Arsenal overtake us as well.

Sorry but they played like they didn't have a care in the world

Must have watched a different game to me then, I seen them have %65 possession, probing and trying to break down two banks of 4, they even succeeded 3-4 times and managed to create openings.

Too easy to blame the lads given whats at stake than congratulate Southampton for doing exactly what they set out to do.

Two banks of 4, 10 men behind the ball, Southampton come not to play.

Disappointed not to get 3 points, but cant be too hard on the lads, Southampton set up to stifle and frustrate and that's exactly what they done.

Yeah, and if you're a top side you overcome that. We clearly ain't !

Any of those things though weren't indicative of us being attacking enough, they were all one off chances.

Well, that wasn't particularly great, but then from the offset it was clear Southampton had no intentions of playing football. Back 9 they had wasn't it?

However, once again, Liverpools use, or rather Jürgens use of substitutes HAS to be questioned once again. I've no problem with how they lined up in the first half tbh, but it was clear Origi had a stinker again. Second half should have seen Lallana and Studge straight away to up the tempo of our attack. Coutinho was notable by his absence, as were Origi and Wijnaldum.

Also, the ref was poor. No getting away from that today. Virtually every contested ball ended up as a free kick to them. But then, their players are as much to blame as the ref. Modern day footballers just get on my tits, they really do.

As for the penalty, well if it was a card offence then surely it should have been red? No blame on Milner for the miss either, was just a fantastic save from Lurch. He's not that great a keeper, but he almost always does well against us.

Very disappointing game of football that... 😞

Puel certainly seems to have Klopps number.

There again when you pick a midfield of Lucas, Gini and Can it's hardly going to conjure up much creativity.
That midfield would be OK away for an away fixture but at home in a must win game. FFS

This game sums up the nature of our small time team when the the pressure was on to win you could see them visibly shrink. Bunch of bottlers!
The likes of Gini literally hiding from the ball.
Firmino looked like he had been on the piss last night with his awful passing.
Coutinho seemed like he had lead in his legs.

Jimmy Milner can't slate him too much as he is not a LB, In fact is he even a midfielder with some of his passing and crossing?

Not the best from the boss today, looked completely lost of any ideas how to break down the Saints Bus.
Should have looked at City yesterday showing what an early goal can do, was way too cautious starting off the match which unfortunately set the tone for the rest of the match.

Hard to be attacking when the opposing team concedes possession puts two banks of four on the 18 yarder and man mark your most creative players and invites you to break them down.

You have to be patient, move the ball about and try to pull players out of position to work an opening and thats what we were doing.

We have not been able to score against them all season, this is unacceptable from a coaching and playing standpoint.

      Quote from JD
Had Southampton home down as a win to be honest, and it was the West Ham game I was wary of.

Not particularly confident right now of us finishing inside the top four.

I don't know why you thought this was a win. You know what our record against them this year is. The game went as I expected and prepared for. Awful game, we attack, they defend, we have few chances, can't score, and don't win.

City hit them for 3, Spurs 4, Arsenal 5. 6 hours we've played them. We could probably play them for another 6 months and the ball still wouldn't go in. Just not going to happen at the present time. Even from the penalty spot.

The reaction has been predictable. Lose to Palace and the ship has sunk. Win at Watford and the plane is bound for Europe. Draw at home today and the ship has sunk. One extreme to the other. Repeat each week.

Nothing was decided last week. Nothing is decided this week. This is a league campaign. We'll get what we deserve at the end of it, whatever it is.

The remaining fixtures and relative form of both Arsenal and United suggests both will drop plenty of points.

After 90+ minutes we should celebrate getting through 3-4 times? Seriously? Our build up play was incredibly slow and didn't have a clue what they were doing half the time. It takes us like 3 minutes to get from one wing to the other. If we want to catch them out then it needs to be much, much quicker.

No, but had they put any of those chances away you'd be celebrating 3 points.

Who would you have put your confidence in for that pen, Ruth?  Before he took it, there'd be non-one else I'd have trusted with it.  He's been a penno machine.
Not an issue with who took it.
Just why did he have to try and get smart, when down the middle was the clear option ?

Terrible home performance yet AGAIN, 70% possession, so easy to play against, bored of this sh*t, we are miles away from being a great LFC side, if Coutinho has an off day we have fu*k all in the final third, same old obvious problems, Milner LB haha, midfield 3 who are all defensive and offer limited creativity, Clyne who couldn't cross a road, and Origi, well was typical Origi, and Bobby who showed his inconsistent side, expect better from Klopp, way too predictable.

Not going to bust Milner's balls over the pen.  He won us three points with a pressure pen against Swansea and he's got a pretty impressive record - I wouldn't back half of our team to even put it within the goal frame.

Listened to some of game, before going for a walk. Milner's penalty being saved, seemingly sums up another lacklustre home performance, when it really mattered. Roll on the end of season.

For me the one to blame is Klopp. You're the manager, you cannot tolerate such things. We should have won easily.
