      A poem for Hillsborough
      Nov 09, 2007 09:26:52 pm
To the 96 that passed away
At Hillsborough on that fateful day
now lookin down with smiles so proud
you sing with us as we sing aloud

You help us guide us get us through
I know Istanbul was down to you
and tho the future is unknown
      one things for sure

Today i,ll shed a tear for the injusticenss called life
and for the guilty feelings that i returned to see my wife.

For the 96 victims your held deep inside my heart
you,ll never walk alone we,ll never be apart.

We need to remind the people,of the disaster of that day,
Unless you believe the papers,in which case i have nothing more to say.

We were stripped of our own dignity, and questioned as a man,
As the rest of the nation read,he,s just a liverpool fan.

Well let me tell you something, from someone who was there,
When they,d driven in the final nail, and no one seemed to care

We were left to defend our lives,by helping one another,
      Solid like a family,like a sister and a brother.

I have never been a soldier,or been sent into a battle,
The only weapons we had that day, were a hat,a scarf and a rattle.

The enemy that day, were dressed up all in blue,
With the incompetence of leaders, who just didn,t have a clue.

To the media and the police, and all the powers to be,
You created pain and torture, and yet you still blamed me.

THE TRUTH in big bold letters,a blatant fucxing lie,
Please can anyone tell me,why people had to die.

There is a little word, sometimes it,s hard to say,
To hear someone say sorry, can go a very long way.

Some people will never understand, the quest for the untold truth,
The desire and need for justice, for every man, woman and youth.

So you labelled us as animals, and football hooligans too,
So know you,ve heard my story, tell me, who,s been kidding who.

      Standing on the Kop today
Where I have stood for twenty years
No men in red before my eyes
But just the mist of bitter tears

      A broken-hearted city mourns
The dead from Sheffield’s hell-hole trap
No-one is here today to sing
No-one is here to cheer or clap

Ten thousand scarves before my eyes
      A hundred thousand flowers bloomed
With words of love and tenderness
For those whom Hillsborough’s death-trap doomed

A part of me has died today
Along with those who suffered there
But what I see before me now
Must bring me hope through my despair

I had to come and share my grief
For ninety-six who won’t be home
Bill Shankly’s arms are open wide
With him they’ll NEVER walk alone

these poems touched me and although I wasn't born at the time of the disaster, I still feel as if I was. I still feel pain on the anniversary, I still hold the 96 dear to my heart and hope they realise that every Liverpool fan born post 15.4.1989 feels the same way as me. We're all part of Liverpool Football Club and for that reason we will remember everything in the past together and experince everything in the future together.

This isn't a poem by me, but rather by me mate's dad, Steve.

They wrote some horrible things back in 89
They hurt every single friend of mine
But some believed what was said and not what was done
Some were blinded by The Sun

To sell a story they told so many lies
      About innocent people losing lives
But some believed what was loaded in the media gun
Some were blinded by The Sun

Hurtful words that stay within me
19 years on still not an apology
But some believed that we stole and then we run
Some were blinded by The Sun

We the football fans keep the faith
Of a band of brothers without hate
And we don’t believe what was wrote by that scum
We weren’t blinded by The Sun

We stand together with our hearts proud
That the boycott message is so loud
And we don’t believe what they think about a daughter or son
We weren’t blinded by The Sun

We lay our flowers, scarves and shirts
19 years on and it still F***ing hurts
And we don’t believe the same as those some
We weren’t blinded by The Sun

Everyone is here with the crowed roaring,
The players were no where near the goal which is boring,
Everyone looks over to the bottom pen,
What is going on says the commentator to Ben?

People are saying that it is a pitch invasion,
All the footballers have lost all concentration,
The police run over and start to attack,
Everyone in the pen can’t move back.

There are people lying on the floor,
This doesn’t seem to stop come more and more,
      The police are calling 999,
This shouldn’t have happened in 89.

The footballers are moved and taken away,
Everyone’s thinking about this dreadful day,
People are starting to wonder why,
The 96 people should not die.

15th April will always be in are minds,
And No One will ever forget those times,
      96 people died that day,
There families and friends will always pray

I found this poem. Always brings a tear to my eye!

Check the tickets in my wallet
Then swig a cup of tea
      7.30 in the morning
      One game from Wembley

Out the door and on the street
      Off to meet the boys
To sing the songs we love to sing
And fill the ground with noise

The coach pulls up and we all pile on
      Belly full of butterflies
Then off to sheffield we all go
      The FA cup our prize

9.00am and the songs have started
      I talk about the game
To a young lad thats sat next to me
      I didn't catch his name

      The journeys taking hours
And we cross the pennine hills
But my mind drifts off to hillsborough
As i dream of beardsleys skills

      "My favourite players Aldo"
Says the boy sat next to me
      His eyes full of excitement
And his words are filled with glee

"I'm meeting me mate when i get to the ground"
      "He's travelling up by train"
"I'll see you back here on the coach"
      "When we've beaten forest again"

The coach pulled up and off he went
      Going to meet his friend
I check my ticket once again
      THE LEPPINGS LANE END

Its getting near to kick off
And i'm getting close to the ground
But nobody seems to be moving
I'm stuck tight in this crowd

      I'm just starting to panic
And a bizzie opens the gate
A red tide moves down the tunnel
      Moving closer to thier fate

      I remember clearly that tunnel
And the light shone at the end
And as i think back to that fatefull day
      I still cant comprehend

That the coppers called us vandals
      And drunken loutish liars
And the media fed us spite and hate
      When compassion was required

But back to that day and the things i saw
      Unfold before my eyes
The sight of grown men screaming
And the air was full of cries

But i was one of the lucky ones
      Because i came home alive
I watched heroes in scarves on the pitch
      Trying helplessly to revive-
Their friends their family and strangers
Who'd all come to watch a game
But their lives were crushed that fatefull day
On a terrace called Leppings Lane

      The memories still haunt me
Every time i go to sleep
But theres one memory that gets me
      And always makes me weep

Back on the coach with my head on the glass
I remember my heart it skipped a beat
When i turned to the young lad next to me
      And noticed his empty seat

There were 96 empty seats that day
      96 friends that we lost
And while Kelvin counted the pennies
      The families counted the loss

So next time you're at Anfield
      Visit the eternal flame
      Feel the stone cold marble
      And touch a persons name

And while you say a silent prayer
And your dreams are tossed and blown
      Remember those 96 empty seats
      That must never walk alone

      Justice for the 96

      You'll never walk alone

Me Uncle always reads this poem to me.

      Woke up Saturday morning
      Excitement pumping through my viens
But I didn't get to see a football match that day
Instead I just saw body remains

In my pocket was my matchday dosh
Counted to exactly five pound eight pence
But I didn't get to spend it at the match that day
Instead I got crushed into a fence

Ate my breakfast and got ready to go
Pre match ritual of a toast and mustard
But that was the last meal I'd eat again
And now in heaven I fight for justice

It was a sunny day, least to the eye
the old red faithful's cheers would cry.
But who would know that on that sunny day,
96 faithful reds would be sent heavens way.

And now we see that 20 years down the line,
96 names still echo through time.
Seeking justice for what happened that sunny day,
it was an accident a travesty, or worse some might say.

Which is why we don't buy that which glows in the sky,
even though we know it won't bring back those that did die.
However the mark of respect still stands tall,
it shall never be forgiven as long as we are all for one and one for all.

We have seen great moments come and go,
if they returned for one day I would like to show,
The 80's and 90's and even Istanbul,
the only guarentee is no moment would ever be dull.

In the midst of this day we live in,
there are still many examples of unleft sin.
96 cases shine like a beacon outside our humble home,
there names will be forever etched in stone.
So on THIS day we all let it be known,
That those names in that stone,
      will NEVER WALK ALONE
