I don’t really understand the way the discussion has gone in this thread the past couple of pages. People getting their knickers in a twist at the suggestion that he might have been affected slightly by fasting or feeling the need to discredit him for his play in finals.

He’s been incredible this season, he’s been incredible every season. It seems increasingly likely we won’t have him next season. Someone else will have to be incredible in his place.
I'm struggling to get my head around that idea.

The thread focused on his Ramadan fasting because some felt it may have contributed to his poor performances lately( notably the Final). No knickers were being twisted, and no one was trying to discredit him, or what he means to the club. It was a valid topic, as (like all the others) he played poorly and it was fair to discuss IF there was maybe a link.

Which ever way you look at it it doesn’t make great reading for the clubs best player to have a poor record in the major finals he has been involved in

I think he was on fire before getting MMA'd by Ramos.   The minute he went off it changed the complete complex of the game.   That isn't the point, which I was making. 

He has been poor the last week that is true.  Has he been poor in big games?   Against City he has had many good games,  his stats are very good.   Against Utd the bragging rights the most pressure games he has been sensational.   I think it is low to pull some random stats to make him look bad, what is worse, is filtering bad stats to make them look even worse.   I think he deserves the support of us fans he has been there and done it year in year out.   Like any footballer that has ever lived, there will be some stats they aren't proud of.

No one is going to stop supporting him , he will be backed every single time he pulls on a shirt for us and in the prem he has been there countless times in many big games

The best and most frightening Salah in a final was against Real and they butchered him.   There has been numerous chances he has created and his team mate has hit it in row z in finals.   He has had many poor finals and has been injured in some.   But he is definitely a big game player.  But he can't do it all alone when scoring.  Like the great VVD can't keep a clean sheet on his own he needs some help.  Maybe Alison can on the odd occasion! 

i’ve said it before without TAA in the lineup Mo is just not the same player . Against PSG Southampton etc looked lost .

Who knows?....If what you say is even half true then that's unacceptable ...There's no "I" in team

This last month his game has gone to pot.....something very very wrong and of some concern.

His poor showings are more obvious when he's not scoring/assisting.....that's really been the only difference between him the past month and earlier. This isn't the electric, free flowing Mo salah was saw first burst onto the scene.

He generally doesn't square his fullback up and have the confidence he has the beating of him.
He generally doesn't go challenging for duels.
& he generally doesn't track back defensively to help out his fullback.

These 3 things haven't changed for over a year now.....the third part happens about 3 times a season when we're under the cosh.

He was rusty tonight , didn’t really get much space but also because Jones wasn’t overlapping he didn’t get much opportunity to go at his player - but he still created a few moments

Mo tends to tire towards the end of most seasons in my perception (not sure if the stats back that up or not, be interesting to see).

Not very surprising given he plays practically every minute of every game. And really hates being subbed.

Wonder if his new contract had been sorted would Arne have been more prepared to piss him off by rotating him with Chiesa a bit more. Might be in Mo's own interest, and the teams, but he wouldn't like it!
