Sell to buy policy has been the mantra with FSG... They were never going to sanction Kieta,VVD without selling Phil..

Would have been nice to see for once retaining our best players & adding quality to them.

I think he's off this window, ladies. No reason Nike would be advertising the 17/18 kit if he wasn't going to be playing in it.

On the Nike note, they should be sued for breaching confidentiality and Barca should be handed a lengthy transfer ban, but we all know that won't happen - FIFA don't have the cojones.

I know you said long-term, but for the last 5 years we have been thinking about long-term and nothing has come to fruition. I believe we need to be thinking about the short-term at this moment in time and making sure we have the tools to compete at least in the CL.

VVD and Keita should have already been budgeted for with previous funds.  The Coutinho money (I'm guessing about 150M) all needs to be reinvested.  We just need to avoid expensive flops like Carroll.

Chasing our own tails yet again. Like i've said in another thread, signing VVD doesn't particularly show desire to win or anything when at the same time we're set to cash in on Coutinho for double the fee.

Coutinho has become a class player and he will go on to win things at Barca. Fenway stand to make a good profit on their initial investment.

My favourite player in a Red shirt, will be gutted to see him in a Barca one, but it's gonna happen - probably would be better if he could stay till end of this season, but at this stage I'd take the very large wad of cash and just get the F***ing deal done and move on.

Yup, but also for Barcelona... they don’t need him just yet. He’s cup tied in the CL and the La Liga is a breeze for them at the moment.

I’d love for him to stay but it’s obvious now and this is the best route for both teams imo.

Why not? We wanted VVD and Keita way before Coutinho handed his transfer request at the end of the window. Klopp wanted both those signings for the start of this season and we would have spent the same money .

Liverpool can get Lemar over Arsenal. Lozano looks better now though.
