Potential Season Ticket Changes Enforced for 2018/19 Season
      Jul 30, 2017 02:53:46 pm
Yesterday I was having a discussion with my neighbour about the pre-season training he'd just had that afternoon at Anfield as he's a steward on one of the turnstiles in the Kop on match day.

All the steward staff have to as of next season clock in and out as well as gain access to various parts of the stadium with a fingerprint reader. Questions were raised about it on the training and they were told that the club is on about installing them on all of the turnstiles in the ground for season ticket holders for the season 2018/19. Therefore only the season ticket holder would be able to enter the ground on match day and be unable to pass it onto anyone else if they couldn't make it to the game!

The amount of times this happens on a match day is a lot but I can honestly see loads of empty seats unfortunately as well as it appearing to be a money making exercise for the club. I think this will mean the season ticket holder will have to tell the club they're unable to make it so the ticket can be resold to other fans. This is all good and well but what about the money that's lost by the season ticket holder?

I do know that at Man City if a season ticket holder can't make a match they let the club know who then resell the ticket. The money then gets deducted from the holders season ticket money the following season which I think would is good and fair but can you honestly see FSG doing the same thing? I certainly can't as well as leaving a lot of fans very disappointed. I just hope this doesn't turn out to be true in the end but anything for a quick buck I suppose.

Instead of worrying about that, the club could start dealing with touting f**king tw*ts like this c**t!!

I don't know mate - I don't share your skepticism here. I totally imagine that FSG would do something similar to City and either reimburse or deduct it from future payments in case someone cannot attend the match and his/her seat is then resold.

I understand this will affect a lot of people who maybe share season tickets or those who use someone else's season tickets, and understandably those will not be happy, but then again, it's impossible to please everyone. A lot of people complain of members and season ticket holders selling on their tickets to tourists or making money out of other people - this sort of measure help combat that. I guess it also offers more tickets for the general public, and potentially more opportunities for new people to attend matches, as opposed to an ageing demographic inside the stadium. Pros and cons. I guess I'm just digressing here, I'm not in favour nor against it at this point.

I'm not 100% but I think that the club already do this. You don't get the full value of a ticket back but something like £20? Maybe a season ticket holder can confirm... I've only been on the waiting list 14 years!!

FSG do the very same thing, don't know about Man City, but I know it's not the full cost of the ticket that is resold back to the club. But the money does go towards the cost of the following season's seasie ticket.

If for instance my brother can't make it due to work, it will be a last minute thing, so I usually try and sort out one of my mates, no doubt now I'll be taking my nephew as he's now getting to a match-going age!!
