I won't be getting the patch. Ruins the shirt, and I don't want to wall around like an advertising board.

Big news, better than a signing!

      Official Money Transfer.

      Ironic.

Maybe they can help FSG officially transfer some money.

      BTW looks naff.

f***in great idea that, NOT !,  our 125th yr and we let a sponsor ruin our shirt by having their sh*t logo emblazoned on the sleeve, get it to F**k off FF's, not against further investment as a whole but this year is a celebration of our history, the shirt colour is perfect, returning to a traditional shade of red,.....but then they go and F**k it up by having a huge yellow splodge of sh*t on the arm, which bright spark arsehole thought of that ?........

The only signing from this is another zero on John Henry's eleven digit bank account.

Yeah it might look sh*t but this is football these days. Man United are doing it so why not us? Who cares about the clubs dignity and soul anyway?

As long as we continue to win trophies and competing for the best players in the world in the transfer market like the previous 7 years under Fenway, then let them keep stripping us of our identity I say!   :f_whistle:

We [the Club] seem to place more importance on announcing a 'New Partner', a 'New Sponsor', a 'New' LFCTV package and a 'New 3rd Strip' than a New Player.

I hope to F**k us [football] fans aren't supposed to be excited by this. 😄

Now LFC will be inundated with those African scams such as you see on gumtree.

We'll probably get an e-mail tomorrow saying we can buy Keita for £50m but we need to send %10 through Western Union first.

I hope shirt sales plummet off the back of this.

Wow,  it really riuns the kit. I know football these days is allabout money, but with the TV money the PL teams are getting, 5 million doesn't seem that much money (considering how sh*te the kit looks now).

Instead of adding a sleve sponsor PL should have kept Barclays or other sponsor in the league badge as before, it shure looks miles beter than this.

I was planning on buying that kit, now I'll think twice, don't see myself buying it with that.

      It already has.

Gross addition to the kit though. Love how they try to make a hype video for it as if people are going to be like "oh wow that's so cool! Can't wait to pick up my new kit with a nice piss yellow WU on the sleeve!"

Anyways, maybe Western Union will help us wire our money over to the other clubs quicker so we can stop missing out on good transfers. Or maybe they can kill any connections between Liverpool and Barcelona.

See the more I look at that monstrosity, the more sick I feel, now I am all for having sponsors investing in the club, most clubs do, however, what I object to is that it seems FSG are open to having any kind of sponsor so long as they guarantee a few extra $ millions,(ultimately adding further profit, for them) and F**k what it looks like,

we are becoming dare I say a typical American brand, with sponsors logo's emblazoned all over their shirts, the shirt to them is immaterial,(no pun intended) it means nothing, it's just a uniform to distinguish from opposition colours, but to us it's our identity, it's part of our DNA, it's LIVERPOOL RED, recognised world f***in wide,

yet these greedy only in it for the dollar bullshitting carpet baggers decide to desecrate our COLOURS  for a few Million dollars, of which they will ultimately see the best thereof.

I was looking forward to being a very proud owner of our new shirt, but they have f***in ruined that notion, whoever made the decision that this was a good idea quite honestly needs a right good kick in the clacker bag, and I want to be first in the queue.

Me too. Mind you in my case it's a creeping demise that's been going on for a while now.

Every time I see something like this, I feel myself drift just a little further away from football.

      Spot on, boys.

Every day the gloom deepens. The cobblers "But that's football today" doesn't do it for me anymore. Players who play when it suits them, not being able to get a match day ticket unless you've been to many previous games, waiting on the possibility of a player going on strike (so we can sign him). Crap sponsors like WU and Dunkin feckin Donuts!!! I ask you, wtf is that all about? I cring every time I see the advert at the side of the pitch...The sh1t never ends.

Without sounding like an old fart (which I am), I can remember watching a game against Leeds in the early 70's with 53,000+ packed in, back to the wall up the Anfield Rd end and paying on the day! Full throttle Footie. We lost. Chips n gravy after. Wet Wednesday v West Ham at Upton Park, Keegan, Toshack, Heighway etc, standing in amongst the  cockanees with me dad, giving as good as we got. We won. FA Cup final v Newcastle. We won.

I get that things change, but I do miss what it all seemed to be about..... us (the fans) and them (the team) all in it together. Piss on the terraces, scabby pies, floodlights that didn't work.... them were the days. Think I've been spoiled, but corporate blandness and greed is stifling the heart out of any enjoyment that's left. And we suck it up. Nurse, nurse....where's me tablets?   :f_wah:

Na mate they've ruined this jersey and the next four for £25 million.

Still learning about how to be competent at doing transfer windows in a way that befits a club like ours, though. But it's sound that the money keeps rolling in.

Wonder how much they'll charge at the club shop for getting that print on, too?

Probably add to that £25 million if that's going to be a thing.

Similar to the PL patch this one is added on, it's not standard on the kit coming from the store..it's a free option.

Anything that can be sold will be sold. Underside of the shirt anyone? Appears after the goalscorer scores. How about laser advertising of corporate logos on the pitch at warmup/halftime? There's no end to this. Football has become a business.

That's one of the things I find most troubling.

Remember when shirt sponsors came in?
First it was "F**k that, get it off the shirt"
Then it became "oh I dunno, it doesn't look too bad"
Then it was just accepted, and people even got excited about new deals for the shirt sponsor.

Like you say, no doubt the same will happen with this.

I still notice the ugly Standard Chartered logo on the front so I'm pretty sure I'll notice the ugly patch on the shoulder as well. It's hideous and really not necessary. We don't spend our transfer money anyway so what's the extra 25m for?

Absolute f***in Tossers, and yet another total F**k Up !!!

As it turns out all of MLB, NFL,NBA and NHL do not allow any sort of shirt sponsors..

Congratulations mate, that's some wonderful research of which I couldn't be arsed....still though I appreciate your education...but just in case you fail to see the principle of having a large splodge of yellow on our celebratory shirt which commemorates 125 yrs of our wonderful history...more fool you!

      Problem?

I've no interest in advertising, and no matter how many ads are thrown at me at football games, and in society in general, it doesn't mean I'm going to buy it if I don't want it.

However when I got my first replica shirt, the sponsor name was a big deal to me. It didn't mean I wanted to take up painting, or buy washing machines, or drink like a fish, or bank in Asia, but it makes the shirt look more realistic with it on it than without it. Nor will it mean in this case, I'm about to set up a comic relief fund in Nigeria. We've had names and mad numbers plasterered on shirts for 24 years, I didn't like it then and still don't like it now, but I've got used to it, and it brings in extra revenue for the club, so I can live with it.

When we start getting into naming rights for stands/stadiums, that's where I draw the line. When the Kop is renamed the "McDonalds Stand", it's time to take action.

Pretty sure you can get the shirt sans the WU logo. So there's that.

The NBA will be having some (Admittedly small, and for the most part look pretty good actually) shirt sponsors from this year onwards. As well as I believe the Nike swoosh now being on game-day tops (Adidas logo was never on actual game day wear). NHL is looking into it as well I believe. Not that I want to diminish your point, as it is a good point - just actually shows this is the way the sports world is going, we are certainly not an isolated case.

WU.....could that mean Wankers Union in other fans eye's??

Pretty world known brand. Most of us with a sense of humour, even those like mine that spend a lot of time in the gutter, would not make that connection. That's too easy. Or as Mags said...

      WU = Wankers Union...

      Are you 12?

      :D

For the record, it is not bothering me at all. Any and all extra revenue we can generate without any fundamental changes should be welcomed. Did not consciously think about the logo once when we were smashing Arsenal. Considering that might be the most complete performance I've seen from a Klopp side yet, I'd dare say the logo aint bothering the players too much either. So, shrug. Still a beautiful kit, with or without the Wankers Union.

Tacky as hell those sleeve sponsorships the league has taken up. You might shrug it off, or say "I don´t care as long as it brings in extra money", but that kind of thinking is what leads to brands on the back of the shirt, on the sides of the shirt, on the front of the shorts, on the ass...

This kind of thing is what happens when you start crossing that line between having class and making profits, and you see it in other businesses where they cut corners every possible cheap way. This is how it starts  :(

Or just turn them into a F1 car, any available space stick some sponsorship on it!!

As a sport, the game is dead, it's about branding and business nowadays.

American ownership is all about branding the product.

Won't be long before goal post & the grassed area within the goals will have branding..

Should just force players to get tattoos of sponsors' logos to quantify the huge wages. Leave the shirts alone.
