I don't think you watched the game bud. Firmino was class. He's typically playing 1v3 the way he gets marked and he never goes down for a foul. Dude is a tank and has skills to boot. Without him today we'd have been sunk, I was baffled when Klopp took him off. He is so important to our pressure and the way we play the game. If any of our midfielders were as good as him, we'd be going somewhere.

I watched all of the second half and 15mins of the first.

Firmino's poor passing is nothing new btw he seems to find it difficult making a simple 10 yard pass.

Will find some stats later on to back up my point.

Are you going to claim Salah's goal was an amazing pass or a bad miss from Firmino?  :D

The performance of our midfield shows the bad mistake of getting rid of Joe Allen, who seems to have more go in him than Can has shown since he's been here.

cant believe people are picking at firmino after THAT performance from LFC......
scored a pen, his touch to salah to win the pen was gorgeous, and made the 3rd whether he meant it or not!

fact is, we will get nowhere defending like this. its abysmal and nothing seems to be changing. mad.

I think people will understand why Phillipe, luis, masch want to goto Barcelona, not only do you win things but you don't have score 3 or 4 every game to get a draw

Joe Allen was average mate, same as Can, same as Gino, same as Hendo. They're all solid 7/10 kinda players. Good sometimes, occasionally excellent but mostly just solid. Problem is solid doesn't win you much.

Their 3rd was a yard, at least, offside. I mean don't want to drag up the past as but they would've scored if Reina was in goal, he would've punched him in the belly..

Just f***in' livid. Its the same f***in sh*t that plagues us year after year. Let the lower table clubs run all over us.

The same issues have bitten us again. Poor set piece marking, poor passing, take away and just some attrocius first mistakes. Mignolet with terrible clearances. No man marking. Same sh*t again. Whatever it takes get Van Dijk. Because we MUST fix that back. If he wants to come then lets make it happen. Otherwise we will have another season of fighting for fourth.

I would agree if you look at previous seasons to his last, but then he  started to get grip with his position and he is playing great for Stoke in midfield. Henderson shouldn't even be in the team let alone Captain.(flatters to deceive does, Hendo- too many side passes) Gini is also a waste of space, and if Can could run he might be of some use, but he runs as if he is running through deep mud.

These are the midfielders you want/need in your team, but not in the specialist positions imo.

Crap defending on their goals but my God did they have massive luck as well especially on goals 2 and 3. We could easily have scored about 6 goals, had one hit the post which just missed falling into Salah's lap. I thought Salah and Wijnaldum were very wasteful in front of goals but if we can fix the defence a bit, please just pay £100 million for VVD or another top top CB, then we have such an outrageous attack this year that we may be able to do a Newcastle and quite simply outscore our opponents in every game.
There was plenty of good things in that game

Hendo pissed me off today more than anyone, so scruffy and clumsy. It's crap losing especially after coming back but I'm not going to get too carried away after the first game.
I'm curious as to what happens now in both team selection and transfer/s.
Watford were well organised, we helped them with that task. You could see we had the quality there but the defence and goalie are wimps. We need a Goalie who commands that area. The midfield didn't look to great either, they did improve to medium level quality in the second half.
Still don't know how a great coach isn't getting our team confident on the ball to not get dispossessed so easy, should be able to flick that thing around. Maybe it's all about nerves really.

Haha, I actually think he is decent, and as Scott mentioned, a 7/10 player, I think he would shine along side an AMC and DM, same with Hendo and Can tbh.

I'd like to see Mane and Salah switched, fair enough they both scored today but surely it's better having them on their stronger side.

Problem is, Salah's strongest when cutting in :(

      Why be angry?

Perform like sh*te and still have your spot in the side next week.

No pride or desire to improve. Refuse to believe the same sh*t gets turned out each week if any effort goes in to actually getting better on the training paddock.

We still have a left sided defence of Moreno and Lovren for f**k sake.

We refuse to go for a CB other than VVD but settle for a left back that can't get ahead of Moreno and Milner?

Can still score goals though so 🤷🏻‍♂️

We've been done by the linesman again btw. Performance not good but in their first goal Okaka was offside and interfered with play and their third goal was offside too.

Once again the standard of linesmen is f**king atrocious. Get the technology in and get these f**king clowns out of the game

Exactly mate. We can analyse the game (and define every example of poor play - the whole game was shocking), but at the end of the day, we scored 3 goals (somehow) and would have had 3 points from game 1 had it not been for the officials turning a blind eye to the most blatant of offsides.

Yet, the media and commentaries all talk about how we were 'held to a draw'. Not as simple as that!

I think a little perspective is called for. Yes we didn't play well, but we came back from being 1-0 down then 2-1 down, ought really to have won it from there but conceded a late sucker punch. We had to deal with a lot of emotional turmoil with the Coutinho thing the day before, and it's the first game of the season.

Salah looked like he has the potential to be a weapon, and as Chelsea showed it could have been a lot worse. It's a point, we move on, but sign some players FFS.

They look embarrassingly unfit as well. Compare officials on the continent and they're all lean and professional looking. The English officials look grey and bloated as if they've stumbled out of the pub. A truly pathetic sight.

Same here mate, bit of an over reaction from many in here. Clear we are short a couple players and we've got a squad that cannot cope with the loss of Coutinho, Lallana and Studge. Bring 2-3 more in and keep the Brazilian and we have the potential to be in terrific shape.

Trying to be optimistic, but it's really the same issues that plagued us all last year....why should we expect that we are going to magically change them without adding any quality defenders.

Moreno made an admirable showing today, he looks like he's learned he can't be a headless chicken all the time. TAA was pretty solid, but really no more solid than Clyne would have been. He does have a nice dead ball delivery though but defensively he's still a little shaky at times in spots where I'd expect Clyne's experience to show him the right way to play out from the back or to defend against incomings.

Matip, pretty much the same, when  he's healthy he's a really good, steady option and seems to be a leader on the pitch.

Lovren...what can I say....he's starting to remind me of Moreno of two seasons ago. Rash challenges, trying to hard when he should take the easy route and loafing when he needs to be urgent. Can't play a pass through the air to save his life.

As for midfield...wasn't Gini was playing until sometime in the second half when he had a few somewhat positive touches. Hendo was typical other than he wasn't running his balls off like you  expect him to. Saw him jogging back on defense more than a few times (isn't he a defensive midfielder?). Can is still frustrating. Offensively he can be quite exciting at times, but when  it comes to defense he's still got a bit of bulldozer in him and will concede silly fouls.

      Mignolet....no comment.

Front three I thought were pretty good, but even still, Watford marked them close and made it hard on them at times. Credit to them for their organization.

The Coutinho factor...I really thought we came out flat and stayed flat for a lot of the game at least up until we scored the two goals to go ahead. I think people would be kidding themselves to say that it didn't have an effect on the boys and for that Phil you can piss right off.

I sure hope Klopp has something up his sleeve for our qualifier. Hoffenheim will be better than Watford. This could get tricky if we don't get it together.

Make a bid for VVD already, should be sent to Southampton today, no more playing around and no more apologies. It's time to start rattling cages. I'd also go back in with a big bid for Keita and I wouldn't mind seeing us in for another creative midfielder player and even a midfield destroyer. Vidal or that cat from Roma with the crazy mohawk. Either one of them would do. Someone that's not afraid to do the dirty work. I think Can tries to be that sometimes but it's just not his game.

Did you count the number of times he gave the ball away, man for a proffesional footballer his passing is awful.

Agreed, didn't look sharp today, gave possession away constantly in the first half, somewhat better in 2nd. Read someone describe his 'sumptuous lob' for the 3rd goal - that was a shot!, Salah just happened to be in the right place to get on the end of it, as he had been on many occassions, pity he couldn't take one of his many other chances.
