As long as it wasn't  just me and Diego who "linked" us with him, I'd be happy enough but I've a feeling this is just lazy journalism sadly. 😉

It wouldn't have taken so long for the 'Club' to twig on  otherwise;  right? 😕

if he's available for £35 million and is better than Henderson, Can and Wijnaldum then get him the F**k in, offer £40 million and get it done, no more F***ing about in this window, time for action.

       :D

By all accounts he has a release clause

Therefore he's available... Just offer the release clause

I wonder if in my lifetime we will get good at transfers

      Just yesterday I posted this:

I don't know much about the player to be honest but if he receives that sort of praise from Xavi Hernandez, then he must be doing something right. We still need a midfielder, Keita seems out of our reach.

"Xavi urges Barcelona to sign “fantastic” Jean-Michael Seri before price doubles": http://www.squawka.com/news/xavi-urges-barcelona-to-sign-fantastic-jean-michael-seri-before-price-doubles/979431#tx0a0oyu4QpcGEoK.97

“When I was told that a player from Nice was called the ‘African Xavi’, I followed him very closely, inevitably,” he told Le Parisien.

“I did not know him and I was stunned: I haven’t seen such midfield talent for a while. [His] short game, long game, tactical intelligence, distance shooting, personality, game organisation…wow! He would go so well at Barça … He can play anywhere in the middle. Seri is fantastic. He has what is called Barcelona’s Barça DNA. Without any hesitation.”

So is the part where we overpay for average players. Must admit I haven't seen him play but he certainly doesn't strike me as a star after watching the obligatory youtube vid:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ar_92X0t78g

Looks a decent player but not one that makes you go WOW!

      https://www.whoscored.com/Players/136262/Show/Jean-Michael-Seri

This lists him as a DCM but one of his main weaknesses is tackling?!?

Anyone who has actually watched him play to comment would be appreciated.

The "register an interest" line makes me believe it's true, it sounds like us.

35 mill release clause? If I were them, I'd brace myself for a 19 million quid offer off of us, 6 million quid of which depends upon us winning the Champions league this year.

you know what, I've reached the stage that i just want a signing, even if he ends up being crap and a DM is still a DM, we badly need one.

      'Register an interest'

      Absolute classic Liverpool that.

Was thinking that myself. If true... a) what the F**k kept them so long and b) why not just back your "interest" up with an immediate offer?

Get your point Heimy and certainly we need a midfielder, watching those 3 against Watford screamed that loud and clear. To me though this lad doesn't look like a DM, he looks much more attack minded which is what we need. The only thing I noticed is most of his best work in those vids were done with a lot of space around him and he wont get that here. His touches don't seem quick enough to transition from control to shot/pass for the premier league.

I could easily be wrong, it's an assessment on a video which frankly could show nothing of what he's truly capable of. Perhaps he has fantastic close control and is dynamic then I'd be over the moon we bought him. I think I'm at the stage where I compare everyone to Keita and how bitterly disappointed I am we're not getting him. When you then compound that with losing Coutinho you go from

                           Keita  Coutinho
                              Henderson
      To:
                           Can Wijnadum
                              Henderson

Well it's a hard pill to swallow right now. So yeah, any midfield signing would be good, especially a creative one (which I think this lad is more than a DM) but I'd love an Isco if we're selling Coutinho, not a lad that 'could' be good.

Edit: Just saw these two tweets also:

      https://twitter.com/LiamCorcoran28/status/897079878935347201

      :lmao:

So that's him not going away to Stoke in January.

      Also more importantly:

      https://twitter.com/mixedknuts/status/859765618626756610

Again that doesn't look like a DM to me, slightly more encouraged on seeing that.

Someone like Isco simply isn't realistic. He's a regular starter at the best team in the world. I don't know why people often mention him as something of a viable target, I'm afraid he isn't one. Never gonna happen.

We won't be signing top players from Real Madrid, but if Serri is anywhere as good as Xavi seems to think he is, then he could be a good signing.

      Unfortunately I agree.

The reason I mention him is because we're about to sell the second most expensive player in the entire world, you'd think our options would be almost limitless below that then wouldn't you? How far does the bar have to drop to make it realistic?

When you have the money and the manager to attract a player I'd have thought you can set your bar pretty high, we had supposedly £200m before Coutinho was sold, I'd have thought £300m should give us some pretty persuasive arguments to make.
