We're "only" getting 105M up front though. Lemar would be ideal, but I don't know if Monaco would sell unless Lemar forces this move. Monaco got poached hard last transfer window.

Think we only paid a third of the VVD money, though.

Yep, paid in installments. We actually really plowed Soton on the VVD deal. I think after they pay Celtic the follow up fee they don’t even have that much to spend this year.

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague said on his YouTube channel: “Liverpool are NOT looking actively for a replacement.

“Thomas Lemar is not someone they’ve shown interest in - not even in the summer.

“They tried Keita to see if he could come earlier but that’s a no-go. “So they are not actively searching for a replacement for Coutinho."

Think we need to be real realistic here, any player we bring in (if any) won't be a £90 million Lamar type player.

Shame that Graeme Kelly is full of sh*t.

Shame that there was no need to piss on a post for no reason. Theres nothing there to have to state that besides a factual comment. Do that a lot don't you, piss on people's posts and opinions? Which is fine if you're not full of sh*t.

Because no other club is stupid enough to let their star players go mid season for starters, also I believe the Coutinho money is funding the Van Dijk and Keita fees.

*edit* I'd be delighted to be proved wrong, I don't want to be right just to say I told you so, in want the best for our club.

Ben Smith of the BBC reckons that we will get him in the summer, maybe with a deal to be agreed next month.

Wonder if that’s something we actually looked into with Coutinho. Saying that, I don’t think he’d have even been prepared to wait until then.
Monaco have a habit of selling their best players so I can’t see it being any different with Lemar. After all, they did allow Mbappe to have a season on loan at PSG before the actual transfer takes place.

Why did Southampton let VVD go midseason then?

He probably should have said which other  big club with ambition

I'd rather be a Barca than a Southampton thanks 👍

Because they are a midtable club with no intentions of winning sh*t in the near future.. I'd like to think that a club with some ambition would keep one of their best players when they compete for two trophies and top 4.

No elite level club (or clubs with ambition to be in the elite) sell their best players in January.

Making life incredibly difficult for Klopp.
You can see the reports coming out now from Monaco and Red Bull saying Lemar & Keita won't be moving before the summer.
Wouldn't be surprised if that's floated by the club at the end of the window, when no replacement for Coutinho arrives.

We wondered at the time why AOC was signed in the summer when it was argued he was keeping the likes of Woodburn out
of the squad. Seems to me AOC, VVD & Keita are all from the Coutinho money.

Wouldn't surprise me to see nobody arrive in afterwards.
      Big Virgil in. Coutinho out.

Again we see Amercian ownership as the Era of Compromise.
Finally address the weakest area of the squad,
lose the teams best player in the process.

      So the cycle continues.

Massive pressure now to finish top 4 else signing Lemar or any player of similar quality will be very difficult in the Summer.
