Some good flashes of play, but can occasionally get beaten a bit too easily imho, and drifted out of todays game. Plenty of time to work on things though, obviously has ability, and Jürgen has shown he can get the most out of players.

Looked a bit out of sorts tonight, went down a few times before going off injured.
Could be wrong, but doesn't look 100% fit either, seems to be holding back a little.
Would be great if he started to hit form heading into the 2nd half of the season..

Noticed a dressing on his back, was that from before the game or from the first knock he got early on?

Bullied out of the game early on.
Went down too easy at first but then got hammered every time and got no protection from the ref.
Not his best game and I thought Mane might have been moved left to bring Shaqiri on, but Lallana getting some minutes in the legs instead.

I might have been really, really stoned but I was sure that foul was there and another 3 straight after it that the Ref didn't give Naby. Was fuming at the time.

Was kicked and shoved all over the pitch without any protection.

He is a huge talent and probably why he was targeted just as he was starting to run the midfield

Have to say I thought he struggled all game.

Took a couple hefty ones for sure and you can see the difference his bursts could make but he’s my only partial disappointment so far.

Really thought he’d be ripping up trees by now.

I’m sure he’ll pick up - huge talent.

Not worried about him. Good player who will get better the more he plays. Wide left is probably not ideal for him, but I'm not second guessing Jürgen with us unbeaten at Christmas. Keita will be fine.

He is going to have to learn how to pick his fights he kept running into brickwalls on Friday. I do love the way he just gets the ball and goes forward I think he will soon get the hang of the Prem just like Fabhino has again the New Year will see the best of these players

He's too light weight, he needs more muscles and he will be fine. He needs to improve his strength and we will have a world-class player.

I am not worried at all about Naby, all the quality is there to see, he just hasn't quite found his rhythm yet, but he will and then WOW!
I must say that all our signings in the summer have been outstanding, I honestly can't think of a better transfer window in recent memory.

I dunno. Keita did cost ~60 Mio. and his midfield competitors are Henderson, Milner and Wijnaldum, guys that wouldn't even sell for 30 Mio. Under these circumstances it's suspicious that he's not the undisputed king of midfield and an easy starting player.

If you didn't only start watching Liverpool FC 3 months ago you would know Klopp beds his new players in slowly and does not integrate them into the starting 11 until he is confident they are ready.

So clearly Keita is not ready yet.

what exactly do you mean by ready? Ready to play the dull negative football like Hendo and Milner do or ready to inject some forward momentum into the midfield with incisive passing and runs?

Perhaps attitude, performances in training may explain why he can't get a game?

Perhaps it's the performances of midfielders that are arguably ahead of him, on current form?

The curious case of Naby Keita rumbles on.... I expect him to play in the FA Cup Vs. Wolves, though.

Not players of Keita's caliber. VVD started right away and Keita - talentwise - is in VVD's category. Therefore it's suspicious. Keita has the potential to compete with Mbappe or Neymar in terms of superstardom. That's how talented he is but you don't see it yet. Just wondering, of course we can nothing do than be patient, Jürgen won't throw Keita under the bus publicly.

Not ready? If I remember correctly before his first injury he was setting the world on fire as he got game time. Something's up...either Jürgen isn't happy with his performances or his fitness is off or something. It's just weird. Although, Jürgen does tend to pick the Milner-Hendo-Gini midfield for our biggest opponents.

      He really wasn’t mate.

Looked excellent against West Ham but been troubled with niggles on and off since.

Never looked anything like the player he’s gonna be other than that match and a half decent game vs Burnley.

Absolutely no performance basis for picking him to start last night.

Really needs to start showing something. By this stage I think we’d all have been expecting him to be one of the first names on the team sheet, especially when it came to playing City.

Those few niggles and knocks just slowed any real runs in the team, we have a much kinder second half of the season, there’ll be no lack of games. To be honest I can see him getting the 90 against Wolves.

But I do agree, we would all have hoped for more of him at this point.

Naby may go on and light the world on fire, or at the very least he easily gets into the starting 11 for years to come, but to compare his talent to VVD isn’t accurate. VVD immediately made us better and performed night in and night out. Naby hasn’t done that, if he had it would be impossible to keep him out the 11. VVD took us from pretenders to contenders over night. He’s the best CB in the world. I don’t see that in Kieta.
