AOC comes across as an absolutely top class guy and I was completely gutted for him when he got his injury. However (controversial point of view alert, those of a sensitive disposition turn away now) I think how good he was last season and how important he could be to us going forward is slightly over stated. When he came into the team about this time last year I felt he could have good games like against Citeh but other ones where you didn’t notice him. I think absence can make the heart grow fonder and if we’re building him up to be more than he was last season that’s going to do him no good when he gets back to playing....

It’s a fair shout, not expecting him to take Salahs spot, but the idea of having him and Shaq as “2nd choice” is a very exciting. It’s just more quality to come in to the squad when we need to push on.

He brought something that we currently don't really have a lot of, and that is power past opponents and/or rocket one from outside the box. He brings a certain brawn to our midfield that complements this team. I still don't see how he makes any meaningful impact this season, anyways. Even after he's fit to play it'll be a while before he's in-form again.

It's funny how you can misjudge a player, and I was certainly guilty of that.

It's also very noticeable the difference between what Klopp has got out of him and what Wenger got out of him.

Did he play that high up the pitch? I thought he was part of the midfield 3?

Give him a run out in the final few minutes of the CL final when we are leading by 3 goals against Real Madrid, having already won the league in mid April. :-)

I hate to crush your hopes but Ox won't be a factor this season. He'll need at least 10 games to get it back. Remember how long it took Lallana? And Adam's injury was cake to Ox'.

Incredible how far he has come already. Thought we'd only see him back next season to be honest, but he seems to be moving freely. I don't think it'll be February, but perhaps March or around that time. He still has quite a long way to go in terms of training with the group in high intensity and then getting match rhythm etc.

Can’t see it happening personally. Think it will only be cameo roles he plays this season if anything, that was one hell of an injury and despite how he looks in odd clips of ball work or running, that’s a lot different to actually playing matches where he will be getting clattered into and be in a much more physical environment. Hopefully he will return to the form he was showing when he got injured but lots of players have failed to come back the same, on an injury far less worse than his. I’ve fu**ed the ACL in both of my knees and that was bad enough, couldn’t imagine how it would have been to basically have your knee explode and injure pretty much everything in there.
Sounds like a doom and gloom post but I don’t mean for it to :D

Its all good, looks like he is ahead of schedule, but I've seen plenty interviews with klopp, theres no way anyone at LFC will rush him back.

minimum 1 month normal training then maybe u23 as sub, and build up fitness that way, perhaps end of march on the bench for 1st team, all going well.

But who really knows with these things.

With such a tough injury, i'd be happy if he's getting 20 minutes a game by end of the season to start getting his timing and match fitness back, then be able to have a full summer and pre-season to get ready for 2019-2020.

Not just is the physical aspect going to take a while, but once he is fit to play in games he will likely look well off the pace having missed so much time.
