Ox was coming along very strongly before his injury. Not that you would, but if you were to look at our '17-18 season when we made it to the CL finals  he was immense, both in the league and CL, running with the ball powering through the midfield and unleashing rockets from outside the box.

think he played 46 games that season and was a real livewire aggressive lad but sadly APril 18th really hurt him badly  and in nearly 4 years he has only played 45 more times its a crying shame . Nobody doubts his abilities but these Ligament injuries to the knee really punish players like OX more as he was so dynamic. We all hope he finds his 17/18 form again but how long do we wait

Yup, that season was amazing. If you watch the highlights of the games against City (both league and CL) he was a terror to them.

At this point i don't see that same Ox will ever be back, at least not with us, and should be moved on in the summer. Even if he *could* get back to that level again, he would likely need a lot of game time to do so which could only be done as an regular starter and he's too far down the depth chart on this team for that.

If he went to a lesser team where he could start day in and day out that would be his best chance at ever reaching that level again.

Actually I did for couple of reasons. (1) Keep your friends close and your rivals even closer.  ;D

      (2) One of my Scouse mates said he was the real deal back then and would turn out world class. Had a side bet ( only a meal off the poker menu  ; ) he wouldn’t score 10 goals in a calendar season in league/ cup games in two years, service to say I enjoyed my meal even though it was a long time coming.  ;D

Ah it is the Chamberlain thread. :D

For me he's not going to add much to us if he stays. He almost convinced me again this season when he had that spell of a few good games but I think that will always be the case with him.

Best for him and us that he moves on in the summer I feel.

Agree. He simply won't get here the starts he needs to get his game back to that level. For the 2 spots ahead of Fabinho, Ox is behind Naby, Thiago, Hendo, Jones and Elliott when he comes back. so his game time is going to be limited. Starts in Cup games where it's a mix and match lineup or crumbs at the end of league games is not going to get him there, so he should be seeking more game time somewhere else.

Honestly think we should flirt with Newcastle a little and dangle Ox in front of them, isn't his bird from there and just had a baby/pregnant? Would be great move for him I think.

Far from perfect but I'd leave him in this role until Salah is back.

Quite direct and gets about the box a little.

How bad did it look? Did he walk off on his own powers or carried on a stretcher?

If it was Suarez, he would have continued but with his luck, he really felt it and took no chance.

      His luck :(

3 goals in his last 5 starts. He really does improve with game time. Very useful squad player and with us still in 4 competitions, there will be chances for him to play. Even when Harvey, Thiago, and AFCON boys return

He proves the importance of regular games. Hes been vital this month.

I think Taki would give a similar impact if given sufficent game time

Problem with Taki is he is more comfortable playing from the left or through the middle - and that’s where Jota is as well
