Agree. Also, our CB are just not tough. Carragher didn't let teams get away with holding onto the ball and stalling. He let people know he was there with aggressive tackles and wasn't afraid to assert himself in the box. This teams lacks a physical aggressive leader like we have in the past with the likes of Carragher or Souness. I was hoping VVD would come and take that role.

Can remember every one of their shots on target.. Says a lot really

      One was the goal
One was cleared by Matip as Mignolet was faffing about as usual
One was saved by Mignolet when a free header was allowed.. It was saved because it was hit straight at him
One was the shot from distance which Mignolet anyway couldn't catch cleanly

Also, the number of red arrows from our No.10 and the position from which the arrows were shot. Our green arrows as a % of the total arrows is far lesser than Burnley's green arrows as a % of their total. Says a lot about their dogged defence which managed to shut out the attacking threat and frustrate the F**k out of the players.

Can't see these defensive issues being sorted.  And Burnley didn't even do a lot going forward.

So while the main story from yesterday is not taking more than 1 of our 35 chances, the fact is that better teams will score plenty of goals against us and that's why we won't win anything this season.

Also - what is the point of our record transfer signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain?  2 minutes against Sevilla.  15 here. Seems to have brought the Arsenal curse with him.

Yep. To be honest we look worse than last season.

      It's not looking good

The thing is that we seem to be able to break down the "bus parkers" almost at will, they don't restrict us in the chances we create and lets face it we should have scored more than one yesterday - Solanke has to score from that chance IMO (I'd be disappointed myself to have missed that).

I really don't know what Klavan is doing for their goal, he just seems to have drifted in to watch Matip, a few feet more to the left and its no longer a clear shot.

Is it just me or did anyone else feel that the forward line lacked something with Mane missing...??
Just did not seem as dynamic with Sturridge playing.... there was less movement, and he could have gambled a lot more on balls being played in to the box...

Maybe he is less suited to the style of Premier League football now and would be suited to CL/EL football or Italian league, Maybe it is as simple as he does not suit the style of football Klopp wants his forwards to play. In any event I believe that his time at the club is fast coming to an end

Having calmed down, after feeling totally frustrated yesterday, if we look on the bright side, our attack is exciting and when the opposition packs the penalty area as hard as they did yesterday, the chances of scoring are limited, but with the Chuckle brothers ( Lovren and Klavan) in defence, we are always going to be susceptible to a breakaway goal. Can't understand why the boss doesn't give Gomez a chance playing with Matip.

Seems that Studge has lost the extra bit of sharpness he had, maybe it's his new haircut.

      Cooler head now.

Again I thought we didn't have the rub of the green with officials.

Clear penalty on Salah in the second half moments before Solanke hits the bar, add the clear last minute offside goal from Watford that's an extra 4 points we could have taken dodgy defence and all.

      Just saying.

Just don't care mate, it's a team effort from the goalkeeper to the forward.

And right now we look weak. No where near champions league material.

Klopp needs to sort this weak mentality asap.

We have 2 main problems, one is our shot accuracy which is amateurish, the second is the organisation of the defence. You would think that both are easy to fix but its now 2 seasons and we don't seem better in either area and THAT is very worrying.

I don't care how many chances the team/players create if we can't defend

Beginning to learn that attacking is only 50% of what's needed to sustain title challenges

In fairness, for the centre forward, whoever it is and it's Bob right now, the only stat I look at is the the goals scored. Only one.
Last time we had guys well up the 'top scorers' table, we nearly won the league. And our defense was sh*te then too.

We are all aware our defence is sh*te. Klopp keeps saying they are top class, so why did he go for VVD.
It's clear he can't say they are sh*te or matters only get worse.
I think VVD in Jan will make a difference and am sure he and Matip will do well together. With Keita on board next season we will be a more potent force. The big worry is, we don't do things quick enough in the market, and by the time our targets arrive, other stars are impatiently on the move, and on it goes.
We never seem to get the better players on board all at the same time.
Add a striker to the above, and games like yesterday will become regular 3 pointers.
We won't concede so often, we will be stronger in the middle, and we'll have a decent finisher.
As for the keeper, Schmichael would do for me to put the icing on the cake, but don't see it happening.
As we are, probably drop more points to Leicester next week !

Think you need to watch it again Matip was at the wrong side and Klavan recognized that and came across

I don't need to watch it again, they were both piss poor.
Wasn't the only time there was a complete lack of communication involving Klavan yesterday.

One thing that made the 500 mile round trip from Swansea to watch the reds yesterday worth it, and that was joining in with 'You'll Never Walk Alone' with the others before kick off.

Great feeling, Rushie. Remember singing it when it first came out. Still get the same feeling when I hear the Kop singing it.

Rush, I was first taken to Anfield when I was 4. I'm 65 this month, and whenever I attend, I feel the same. Sometimes I struggle to sing it, I get so choked. Bloody marvellous anthem, unbettered by anything, anywhere.

Absolutely, but Hibs fans singing Sunshine on Leith by Proclaimers after 3-2 cup final v Rangers in 2016 also worth a look

The conversion ratio stat and the interpretation of that issue not getting fixed even after 2 years is not correct.

      2013/14: 21.4% - 3rd best
      2014/15: 13.1% - 16th best
      2015/16: 14.7% - 14th best
      2016/17: 18.5% - 4th best

So far in 2016/17, we have a ratio of 12.5% (shots at goal is the same as City). But, I think it is too early to make any meaningful conclusions from the stat.
