Why budget we have the 3rd highest revenue in the world - some big earners will be coming off the payroll as well.

No need to act like a mid table team.

      Spot on

Can't show consistency at top without acting like a top team in the transfer window.

How much consistency have Chelsea and Man Utd showed at the top with them acting like a top team in the window 🙄

Chelsea doesn't act like a top team. In fact they act completely different. Just spending tons of money on anything you can doesn't make you a top team, just a top spender.

United in the last year or so has acted more like a top team and they've been able to reap some rewards from that. Man City, Madrid, Bayern...those are top teams that act like top teams. Whether people think we "act" like them is up for debate, but certainly you hardly ever see those teams shy away from spending big if they feel it's necessary.

So what’a “acting like a top team” in the market mean ?

      Hmmm....both maybe.

You seem to have a problem with logical arguments in your posts. You seem to often like to argue that there are only two options when there are actually a multitude of options in between.

That's an either-or fallacy for those of you that are interested in Logic 101.

No, top team would've addressed the midfield issue long ago, they would've signed a midfielder in January, or even in the summer. I mean there comes a point we gotta admit that we as a team try to act too smart for our own good in the transfer market.

Remember when we went to the next level?  We paid big money and signed proper players like Fab, VVD and Allison. A proper team requires consistent investment. Or else they will end up like us, struggling to get top 4.

We paid big money in the summer as well , the club have a model they follow , it doesn’t matter how people see how we act - as long as it’s the right player . They may wait too long at times or be stubborn but it’s hard to see many failures in the transfer market

All clubs have a budget in reality, doesn’t mean we can’t be smarter and look for the likes Caicedo who was signed for peanuts by Brighton, Spend a bit more and the likes of Barella - nothing like what Bellingham would cost. So you don’t have to have a bottomless pit.
We need players to transform our midfield, the ones suggested imo are not that type of player.

Sometimes I think you just like to argue because any mention of bringing in players you have a mindset that everyone is suggesting a blockbuster transfer.

Failure to do anything in the summer and even season before has meant has culminated in where we are this season!

We did bring in a few players in past seasons. Gakpo, Darwin, Carvalho, Konate, Luis Diaz, Jota, Thiago. Perhaps not enough and still lacking? Not that we didn’t do anything.

So do you mean when we bought the likes of

Diaz , Nunez , Bacjetic, Carvahlo , Gakpo , Konate ,  Ramsey over the last two seasons

That’s a mix of young , under the radar and paying a bit more for someone

      Rabiot is an interesting shout.

Rabiot plays exactly where the club has the biggest issue.
      Free Transfer in the Summer.
Rumoured to be going to Barcelona.
Should be all over something like that.

Rabiot has had that reputation issue but mainly because of his mum ? ( agent)

Always seems to have been a very good player

Will Barcelona be able to register him ?

If we're targeting a budget player or 2 they'd be taking a chance on players we've heard of but not seen much of.  Musah/Amrabat/Kokcu/Sangare.

      They're all free transfers.
If we were taking a punt, Rabiot is the type of player that would best suit what LFC needs.

Would quite happily see LFC throw their entire summer budget behind getting Caicedo and Mac Allister from Brighton.

Got a budget of 150 Million?
      Sign two players.

Our two players that should be in their peak (Ox and Keita) have created a huge hole in the squad.
Mac Allister is one of those coming into his peak, so he'd be perfect.

Also, signing those two would allow the team to more comfortably play 4-2-3-1
