This will be tough. A game where we will need to be clinical. That word hasn't been in the Liverpool vocabulary recently however. I'd bring in a few fresh faces. Migs back in goal, two new fresh full backs, Milner into midfield and give Studge a start.

      2-1 Reds.

Rafa knows how.to get a team to be organised and clinical so I'd expect one of those games where we have all the possession and then we let in a sloppy goal...just like most of our games now really. Personally I think this run is a blip. We do need to start putting away our chances now so for me I'd give Danny a go from the start. He's not how Klopp wants to play because he doesn't press like Firmino but personally I don't think it would be a bad thing to leave Danny up there in and around the box. We have plenty to to get the ball up to him for him to work his magic. I like Firmino but he's just not that clinical in front of goal at the moment so it could be Danny time to shine.

Trent had a full game Tuesday, he is just a lad! Gomez is more solid defensively also.

Ox will not start after that horror performance in the League Cup and can't be playing in a three man midfield if Coutinho is part of it.

Yep but it was Tuesday and Newcastle so like I say I'd give him a run (of games).

AOC horror show pales by comparison with Can last night who was utterly woeful. So - yes I hear you - but I'd still like to see AOC get some game time in / off the middle.

Should be spanking the Toon, truth be told they are a poor team. Sorry Rafa.
Only thing to be careful would be set pieces as they're CB Laschelles is a threat.

Migs will obviously come back in and I expect Gomez and Robertson.

Can has no right to be playing at the moment, so toss up between Milner and Gini.

Firmino is on a poor run so Solanke and Sturridge should share the workload as I doubt Danny can cope with 90mins.

Firmino and Sturridge were both woeful last night so it's a toss up for who starts. Probably give Sturridge the edge as he hasn't had that much of a chance this year.

      Can needs dropping as well.

I would consider Milner at right back it's his natural side and he proved for large part last year he could do a job at fullback.

Don't think either Joe or Arnold are ready just yet.

Interesting.  If I was going to "change things up" then I'd go with one of:

      Ward
      Trent - Matip - Klavan - Moreno
      Hendo - Gini
      Mane - Salah - Coutinho
      Studge

      Ward
      Trent - Matip - Klavan - Moreno
      Gini
      Chamberlain - Coutinho
      Salah - Studge - Mane

Embrace the "helter skelter" approach and go full tits attack!!

Great opening post but don't agree with 2-1. The kind of football we are playing I think we will better those 90's classics.

Rafa will be well aware of our weaknesses, more difficult to win at Newcastle, although should produce a few goals, at both ends.

Why are you so conservative? It's Newcastle come on. The way we're leaking goals does nothing to suggest that a 3-4 scoreline is impossible.

When it's Newcastle, only a 4-3 scoreline in our favour would be appropriate. Nothing else.

Yeah more confident than ever we will leak three goals. It's my prediction.

      1) Rafa's team will be well drilled at corners. He likes to repeat moves in training and players will naturally move into position even when they're not thinking. Dangerous.

      2) our defence is disorganised and each defender including goalie is vulnerable to individual mistakes. Rafa will target their weakness. I remember him successfully playing Arbeloa at LB against Barca to nullify their attack (who did he go up against? I forgot).

It's probably reasonable based on the above. Let's hope I'm wrong. Hahaha.

I am not too optimistic because of Rafa. The man knows how to set up and defend.

But, I will still go for 2-1 to LFC. Only problem is we have to score two because we know we will definitely concede and do have in us to score more than opposition! I hope the barcodes suffer at our hands because of what happened in Europe, i.e. we give them a spanking.

Personally, I would bring in Solanke, AOC, at some point in the game (& not at 85 minutes) to change it up from the usual. I know Klopp will play his usual team. As it is an away game to the barcodes, perhaps bring AOC instead of Gini (who seems to do it at home games but not away).

These are absolutely sh!te (not because of rafa, they just haven't got good enough players largely because the chairmans a c***).

We will smash them to pieces, we'll get between 3 and 5, they'll get between 0 and 1.

      I've gone for 4-0.

Would expect Firmino to start, law of averages says a goal's coming ? :)
If Danny wants to break into the side, he needs to make the most of any time he gets from Jürgen,
Don't think they're great at the back, there's goals in this for us.

Same time, you have to think Rafa will have them fully charged, so would expect them to get stuck in,
Hopeful our quality will show thro, particularly with Coutinho getting back his sharpness.

Looking forward to it, seeing Rafa and Klopp together will be nice too.

How about starting to build some consistency in the back 5.

Pick what you feel is the strongest Jürgen and play them every game rotating only if necessary through injury or if they are totally drained which shouldn't really happen.

Maybe they can start getting used to each other a bit.

So...Coutinho and Can as holding midfielders? The only way you functionally get our so-called Fab 4, plus Sturridge (Billy Preston on "Get Back", Eric Clapton on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"???) on the park at once is a 4-4-2 and even then it is a very questionable central midfield and would totally change what Jürgen likes to do with his fullbacks.

By the way, in your sig, I think you meant to say "Live, BreathE..." unless you really want to say "Live Breath" like "Your breath is alive" which maybe it is after eating onions or Doritos or something.

No he's playing Can only as holding midfielder.

Do we need 2 against Newcastle ?

      Would go with:

                   Ward
      Gomez Matip Lovren Robertson
             Hendo Can
      Salah  Coutinho  Mane
               Sturridge

Attack being best form of defense.
Really looking forward to this one.

If that dickhead Shelvey plays he WILL throw himself about in midfield with his studs up so I hope the ref has a bit of bottle and sorts him out otherwise it could get ugly.
I love Rafa to bits and the atmosphere in the ground will be ace tomorrow but his team are sh*te!

      No excuses tomorrow I'm afraid.

Think this looks the best option considering the opposition.
We desperately need an early goal to draw them out of their own box. They won't play damage limitation from a goal down, and once they venture forward, we should be able to pick them off.
Massive for us, as corresponding results today, could see us end the day in 8th or 4th.
I'm assuming our finishing can only improve, so on the strength of that,
I'm going for a 1:3 win, and see us into 4th.

Huge, huge game in terms of keeping in touch with the top.

Arsenal will destroy Brighton, and we'll destroy these. A shade over even money on Betfair.

If you need a bit more bang for your buck and fancy a bit more of a risk, Everton will likely beat Burnley, well probably anyway.

Good luck mate, don't mind as long as us and the Arse win. I think both games though will be HT/FT for the favourites, and at least a 3 goal margin in each.

Love Rafa but sorry i want us to F**k his side up proper......one word will define the outcome today and that is quality...we have far too much for them to cope with so for me i can see us sticking 4 past them..... I'd be inclined to give them one for the simple reason we have Migs back between the sticks and he's bound to F**k up sometime within the 90,

Wouldn't change too much so my X1 are thus.....

                               Mignolet
            Gomez  Matip  Lovren  Moreno
                    Wijnaldom  Henderson
                                Coutinho
                    Salah                    Mane
                                 Firmino

Bench;  Karius, Trent, Can, Aoc, Sturridge, Klavan, Milner.

Rafa as we know can organise a mediocre defense to work their nads off, however our front 4 would test the best defence possible, and will prove too much for Toon,

      1-4 Mighty Reds

Aye, 8 points off the today going into this one, 7th spot in table. Burnley 1 up at Everton so they could jump us if they win.

But 3 points and we're back in front of Chavs and Arse, and level with spuds.

Games against Newcastle are usually open, high scoring affairs. This would suit us, so I don't think Rafa will play like they are the home side.

I think he will set up to sit pretty deep ( maybe wit a 4-4-2) and try and hit us on the counter. Could be one of those familiar frustrating ones where we have lots pf possession but struggle to break them down.

I'd play a 4-4-2 ourselves to maximise our goal threat in and around the box -

                                 Ward

              TAA  Matip Lovren Robertson

            Salah  Hendo Gini   Coutinho

                    Studge     Firmino

I did think about playing Milner in CM to give us fresh legs ( I'd have done that in midweek tbh), but didn't want to drop Gini as, while he is a "homer" he does in fact consequently have a good goal scoring record at St James Park. Quite fancy him to score.

Be interesting to see who plays in goal. I'd gamble on Ward, but it's a close call between him and Mig.
