      Pre-Match: Liverpool V Manchester Utd (14th Oct 2017 - 12:30)
      Oct 09, 2017 10:31:50 am

We should be going into this game hot on Unitedā€™s heels but after the draw at Newcastle a win for United would put 10 points between us in just October. On the other hand, a win and we are just four behind and our poor start to the season compared to their ā€œbrillianceā€ so far looks a lot closer.

I expected United to line up with Herrera, Matic and Fellaini in the middle but with the latter injured Iā€™m not sure. I feel they will set up a lot like last season and look to frustrate us as much as possible and hope to do what every other team seems to be able to do. Watch us have all the ball and take their one or two chances when they come.

Set pieces will be massive here and my worry is how we bad we are at defending them and how strong they are at converting them. They are physically stronger and bigger than us and donā€™t be surprised to see a corner or free kick be the way they score.

Iā€™ll try be positive though and I believe Anfield will see us through with a 2-1 win!!!  :kop5cf8koxp6: :kop5cf8koxp6: :kop5cf8koxp6:

I have to agree with Ste Gerrard here.

      We desperately need this game.

We can't oust the 'cannon fodder' and we seem to procrastinate amongst such fixtures much to the dismay and frustration of us all.

So this game has come at the right time for us. We HAVE to win this, and I think we will.

We just need to be clinical.

Conceding less shots on target, and creating more chances doesn't win you games.

Keeping clean sheets, and scoring goals win you games.

They will park the bus, and be a long ball team to Lukaku

Just need to eek out a win

Hoping our lads return fit and ready from International duty. Should be enough time yet to freshen up for this game.

However, given our form, I'm not all that hopeful sadly. Man Utd would have to be favourites here. Just hope we pick up our game and go for the victory.

I've gone for much the same as OP, but with TAA (thought he played really well against Utd), and Sturridge to lead the attack.

Solanke and Firmino to come on later as needed.

Mourinho is the master at stifling attacking teams, I just can't see a win for us, I think it may be a draw.

Gomez can defend better from set pieces and is stronger defensively than TAA.

Sturridge would be lucky to make the bench after his display against Newcastle. No brainer that Firmino starts with his pressing aswel as being better.

Shame itā€™s straight after the international break, usually a bit sluggish after them, but so usually are Utd.... luckily weā€™ve a few players that have had quite big moments over this break.... Salah winner, Robertson MOTM, Can first international goal...

Iā€™d play all three of them definitely... could be the only few players buzzing while most others sluggish.

With Klopp as Manager, Sturridge is lucky any time he gets near the squad.

But I've gone with proven quality. We need a striker who can put the ball in the net, and Sturridge will prove his worth if given match time. He needs a run of games.

I am most interested in which three players he picks for his midfield. I expect Sadio, Bobby and Mo up front, so Phil plays attacking mid, but which two of Emre, Hendo and Gini does he select? Right back might be the only other real question - although I agree with those hear who say Gomez. I'd prefer Robertson to the first choice left back but Klopp clearly isn't there at this point.

But that midfield choice, that maybe be a last-minute decision.

Martin Atkinson to referee this for the 4th time. We've lost all three that he's reffed.

F**k knows what Liverpool will turn up but I'm not that confident if I'm being honest.

Seriously Dan? He's had two years of match time, in ain't happening now. As for run in games? That's a no no too.

Given that you are a Utd fan, I can understand why you would not want him to play.

There's enough of that debate in the player thread though.

With Fellaini out of this one, that will be a big blow for Utd. He must be their 2nd best player after Lukaku, and arguably Mourinho's favourite. Hoofball specialists! Great to know our lads have a better chance of avoiding those nasty elbows and leg breaking challenges.

I think even without Felleini they are the most physically powerful team in the league. Emre Can I would play for certain, Gomez at right back too. If it were me I'd play Milner at left back but I shouldn't think JĆ¼rgen will go down that route. To be totally honest I aren't overly confident. We are going to need Bobby Firmino to return to his best form and for our best two players (Coutinho and Mane) need to be right on it, and we're going to need our back five to have their best performance of the season.

By hook or by crook I've found myself at the top of the prediction league. I haven't got there by predicting 5-0 wins every week, and I aren't doing that here either. Given the way things are, I'd take a point right now. That said, these games have a habit of favouring the underdog and I've told every single Manc who comes in here that we are going to smash them up, just wish I actually believed it more.

The fact that im a United fan pleased as punch Studge is hopefully playing, no matter what he does against us hes well passed his sell by date.  Cant stand Fellaini as you probably know. We shall agree to differ about him being 2nd best player at moment.  ;D

Yes hes certainly hoofball specialist and a elbow cheating f**ker but still think we can do the job given we're on a roll and your anything but that. However, form will probably go out the window on this one.  :D

Would be tempted to play Milner at RB. Moreno with not travelling will probably get Nod at LB. Gini or Can ? Not sure think he will go with Gini

Can any one of you lads give me a little help?

Planning to head up to the ground early on Saturday and attend the fanzone. Having trouble accessing the info on the LFC website though.

      http://www.liverpoolfc.com/fans/fan-experience/fan-zones

This is the page that's meant to contain the info but when I click on the page for 12.30pm kick off I get a dead link. Anyone can try it for me and see if they get any luck? Might just be my comp?

Failing that, anybody attended an early kick off before and know what time the fan zones start and what sort of stuff goes on in them when it's an early one?

      Thanks guys YNWA

I've been thinking for a few weeks that Mane is noticeably better and more effective at RW than LW.

I also think our team might function better with Coutinho at LW than at CAM.  We were actually winning much more regularly before he came back into the side....

Salah is capable of playing as a 2nd striker, so maybe this would be worth a go....

      Migs
      Gomez - Matip - Lovren - Moreno
      Hendo - Can
      Mane - Salah - Coutinho
      Firmino

It'll probably be a close game, and could be one that gets decided by a referee's decision (penalty or red card).  Hopefully were on top at the end.  The confidence and momentum gained from a win in a game like this could be huge for us!!

Massively pissed off with the league that my youth football team plays in. We didn't have a game this weekend because each division has an odd number of teams so I was going to be able to watch it but I checked the fixtures last night & they've given us a friendly that starts at 12:25pm

I set off on my Jollies after the game, but can't see me setting off in a good mood.  just can't see us getting anything out of this game but a whooping!!

Maureen is one of the best stopping teams playing and Lukaku brushing aside all of the defence to score a hat trick.

C'MON lads please prove me wrong???

My son has just started playing competitive football, he is 7.

His game is at 11 so I had to choose between him or going the match. I chose him and I've given my ticket up.

If he doesn't score a hat trick he will be grounded.

I would start the game with this formation

                                                                              Migs

                                                                TAA Lovren Matip Robertson

                                                                             Hendo

                                                                      Gini            Can

                                                                Salah     Firmino    Man

Think that we have created more chances without Coutinho starting, have just failed to capitalized and have looked better in midfield

Would love to see this , but highly unlikely....

                                                             Gomez      Matip    Lovren
                                                Flano                                             Moreno

                                                                Gini/Can       Henderson

                                                  Salah               Firmino                Mane
