He's a class man, absolutely top bloke.

STV did a "Kenny" documentary in 1986 in the first 2 minutes ,Franz Beckenbauer tells you about the King , Bob watching him getting the freedom of Glasgow, I was at the Spain game saw him curl one in.Saw vintage Dalglish in Belgium missed a pen beat 3-2 Kenny was f***in brilliant turned there defenders inside out impossible to mark and away he went sublime, man to man marking he would be some player to mark The King out for 90 mins and his name is ,.......................    exactly nobody, nobody could do it legend, genius
      a man, but what a man .
Rabbie Burns wrote many  years ago  " A mans a man for awe that"  its a hard read especially if your not into auld Scots words but this is this essence of each verse.

In Verse One, Burns is saying that wealth, or lack of it,and social class should not be the measure of a man's true worth.
" The rank is but the guinea's stamp" means that a person cannot be given a price. The man's character is the true gold.

Verse Two continues the theme. We may wear ordinary clothes, and eat simple food, but appearance is just a show, like tinsel.
Honesty is worth more than fancy clothes.

Now Verse Three might have got Burns into some trouble in Edinburgh. The birkie (cool young guy) who struts around, and has the title of Lord, is only a coof (an idiot). The man who learns to think for himself is worth much more than that.

Verse Four continues this theme. Princes can hand out titles at will, but honesty and pure goodness are worth much more.
Self respect doesn't come from inherited wealth or titles.

Verse Five is a prayer that Sense and Worth shall eventually agree with all mankind.
Burns imagines a future world in which all people will live as brothers, in mutual trust and respect. "It's coming yet, for a' that". Well, it hasn't come yet Rabbie, but we live in hope.

Who pops into your head right away ,when you read Burns poem  Shanks & Bob,then Kenny takes it up a notch Im of the opinion that Rabbie would be adding a verse or two just for him if he were still alive ,they would maybe change the title though to..
      .
"A mans a man for awe that, then theres Dalglish "

I reckon I’ve watched that at least 30 times in my life.

That’s about once a year since it was made and my boys must’ve both watched it at least half a dozen times.......

      Sheer class.

Next time you watch it watch the second goal against the Mancs 16.12 how f***in good is that, remember Bergkamp's wonder goal against Newcastle chips with spin goes one way dances round the other and scores. Kenneth Mathieson Dalglish planted the seed 10 years earlier ,Sammy McIlroy didnt know if he was coming or going .

Love the king... "Started from the top... always a club that supported each other... they wanted to win and so did the players... players who didn't play even more important."
