We are at Home against a team we should be comfortably beating.

I wouldn't be dropping Mignolet or Lovren. This is the perfect game to give them a confidence boost again. Our back up options are not as good as these two are, and we will regret it if we downgrade them.

It's been a long time since we've had to talk about picking a team more on who doesn't deserve a start than who does and it throws out some food for thought.

What about Dom up front with Ox, Coutinho and Salah behind and Milner plus one of Can/Hendo alongside?

As for a back five... f**k knows 😕😂😂

Who'd be a bloody manager, BBB?  FFS!  We all think we know what's what, but none of us have to put our house on it!  Perhaps now, of all times, is the time to keep faith with Klopp.

This is a brave post given the current mood of our fans, but I think you've got a point.

Not sure I'm as confident about it as you seem to be, but we really don't have proven selection options here, and Jürgen is in a political quandary as far as fan opinion is concerned, depending on the match outcome.

      What we need on Saturday is ;
                              Reina
              Carragher  Hansen  Hypia  Kennedy
                  Dalglish  Gerrard  McDermott
                        Torres Rush Suarez

      What I'd like to see is ;
                                Ward
                   TAA Gomez Matip Robertson
                 Grujic Gini Henderson Coutinho
                          Salah  Solanke

      What I reckon we'll see is ;
                                Karius
                  TAA Gomez Matip Moreno
                              Henderson
                    Chamberlain Gini Coutinho
                            Salah   Firmino

I was so full of optimism at wembley on Sunday and it was heartbreaking to witness my team crumble, not only in front of 82,000 people in the stadium but to the trillions around the globe so i really want to see a display that puts my wounded faith and belief back where it belongs...in the best team on the planet LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB !

Thought of Raymond I must admit.
It was either one of these two more so over Bruce or Jerzey or James for sure.
Chose Pepe coz of his massive throw outs over the half way line..something we just don't see anymore !!

Hard earned point, Liverpool to have 15 shots on target, Huddersfield 3 shots on target.

As an old fart what is the difference when people refer to 6's and 8's, is this is footie manager thing ? It's been confusing me for a while now

See, I thought it was more of an English thing. In modern parlance, #6 is more of a holding, defensive midfielder, supposedly protecting the back four. I say "supposedly" after watching our matches for the past 1 1/2 years... ;D

When I say #8 I mean an attacking midfielder, although in my mind's eye this player is behind TWO strikers, which of course isn't how do it. But anyway, the midfielder farthest forward of the three. My understanding is this is the idea they have for Oxlaide-Chamberlain if Phil, as it seems, is on his way this summer.

Gonna be the most awaited team news for a while.

I'll take a stab at it:

                       Karius
         TAA    Matip   Gomez  Moreno
                     Henderson
                Wijnaldum Coutinho
           AOC       Firmino     Salah

If not AOC then the 'surprise' choice might be Solanke, dropping Bobby back in for Coutinho and sticking him out wide left. I'll be happy as long as Mignolet and Lovren are dropped, beyond that Can would be the 3rd choice that needs moving down a peg or 3. Even the bench will be very interesting indeed, just how far do a few of these fall?

      Can't wait.

There'd be some interesting reactions in here if that were the case, mine would be one of extreme disappointment and disbelief. We'll soon find out FL but I reckon it's the sadistic part of you suggesting that.

Huddersfield beat Manure last week, which is more than we managed. We should not expect this to be easy no matter who we put out.

      Regarding Mignolet and Lovren :
      - if we win at the weekend with them playing, think most would still be disappointed they started, cause you'd have to wonder what they have to do to get dropped to the bench
      - if we loose at the weekend with them playing, well, it'd just be carnage
Almost a no win ... so might be best to just leave them both out :)

"Jürgen has a precedent in dropping Karius last season fearing the fall out if he made another mistake against Middlesbrough away. It'll look strange and hypocritical if he doesn't apply that precedent with Lovren and Mignolet."
       - Frankly Mr Shankly.

      Agreed, completely.

Most fans will be demanding a tactical rethink, as well as defensive/goalkeeping personnel changes.

Keeper wouldn't be my priority, though, as I don't have any more faith in Karius than Mignolet, and haven't seen enough of Ward to say he's any better.

In some ways, as we've done well at home defensively against lower/mid table teams with the existing lot, he could argue that we should keep the same side (minus Milner for Gini)!

Changes would be popular, but if he makes them and we don't win and win well, he gets flak for his lack of buys in the transfer window.

I wouldn't want to be JK at this moment.  This is where a top manager shows how big his cajones are.

No if he makes the changes in personnel  we want and the team loses then he can at least say that the new players need a few more games to gel with their teammates etc, its a weak excuse but most would buy it. If however he plays the same sh*t players he has been and we lose what excuse can he possibly offer?

Hearing Ward as 'got a coutinho' (ie back injury), so its got to be Karius to carry us to victory in goal

Id rest Moreno at LB and put in Robertson

Gomez CB with Matip, Milner RB (saving Trent for Maribor)

Bobby has been poor since Coutinho came back (wonder if there is a direct correlation there....) and I would rest him for this one, switching to Coutinho to the middle of the 3 up top, Oxo on the left of the 3

Midfield 3 is still Gini, hendo and Can - but wishing we had lallana back

Number 6 is supposed to be the most defensive centre-midfielder - probably like the way Mascherano played for us.

When you think of the number 8 you probably think of Gerrard and that's about right - 50/50 attacking and defending. The 'box to box' type.

That's in a 4-3-3 though.  I suppose in a 4-4-2 then the difference is just which is the best defender as to who is referred to as the '6'.

Ha ha... as you know; "back in the day..."

      #1 = Keeper

      #2 = Right Back
      #3 = Left back
      #4 = Right half
      #5 = Centre half
      #6 = Left half

      #7 = Right wing
      #8 = Inside right
      #9 = Centre forward
      #10 = Inside left
      # 11 = Left wing.

      They lined up...

           #1

      #2 #5 #3
        #4 #6

       #8 #10
      #7    #11
           #9

What punters think they are now... Only F**k knows but I have a real suspicion that half the fuckers (that use them numbers now) dont have a baldy themselves: that they only repeat what they've heard/read in order to look savvy. 😉😂
