      Good topic, this.

Milner hasn't got many years left, Henderson has history of an injury which won't go away. Who's next?

Would Klopp have given it to Coutinho if he'd been fit..

Klopp...." Phil take the armband today..Ok.."

      Phil.."....what..."

      Klopp..." I said...take the armband...take it..."

      .
Yup, it certainly is as only one person mentioned captain Kirk. Picard, Janeway, Sisko, etc were just rubbish when compared to Kirk. BTW: Who is this Lorca someone has mentioned? I am sure he/she doesn't hold a candle to Kirk.

Bobby is number one choice for me and Lallana would be number 2 but he's not fit/playing. Both for similar reasons. Grit, work rate and game intelligence. Oh, number 3 - probably Matip. I think Firmino has it in him to pump up the team even when it's an off day.

For me noone deserves it because we should have 11 captions on the pitch every time whoever plays!

      Henderson, Milner, etc I don't give a shout ;)

In the next five years, I want Gomez or Trent to caption us or even Woodburn. Local lads!

Can't believe some don't think its that important to have a captain, for me its pivotal to have a leader, a strong character and someone not afraid to give out bollickings when needed,
Someone who has a voice between the players and the gaffer, a kind of liaison that can smooth things over if players have any concerns...

Henderson hasn't got the bollocks to bollock anyone and that for me spells 'pushover' amongst his peers, to be fair to him tho he's probably good at the community stuff and the ambassador stuff,

Lallana would i believe be a good candidate but we need him to be on the pitch most of the time, he would undoubtedly set a good example and has the ability to go the extra mile, i think other players would look up to him and follow his lead,

Can is another good shout imo, in fact its possible it could be the making of him, give him the extra responsibility and I'm sure he would respond, he needs to sign a new deal of course but why not kill two birds and see what he says, if its no then we will at least know where we stand,

My third choice would be Matip but I'm not sure he would want to, he doesn't come across as a leader type from what I've seen but what do i know ?

Perhaps our leader hasn't arrived as yet, it's possible Jürgen is thinking that he wants someone specific, someone he knows will deliver, someone he has worked with before?

It isn't beyond reason to assume that new players coming in will have the experience Klopp desires to take this club forward, i truly believe he has realised that its time to ship out those who very clearly will not take us up a level,

      And not before time imho.

If Can signs a new contract, he could be a future candidate but I'm not sure his heart is at this club. He has stuttered this season so far. He was outstanding for most of last season. I would hate to see him run down his contract and take a huge signing on fee.

Sell his soul to the money god. Is he good enough for this club...we will find out one way or another.

Can was, bar the last two months of last season, pure tripe.

It's a slightly fruitless conversation this as we don't have all the information to hand that goes on inside the  club, we simply can't and are making judgement with our own confirmation bias leading our decisions

I remember succinctly Gerrard constantly getting slagged off by a high percentage because he wasn't vocal enough and wasn't a natural leader. Now Henderson gets it too.

Know what though? Different managers picked both, there must be a reason for that? Something those who slagged Steven off and slag Henderson off dont see or have the privilege to understand.

Jürgen  has had plenty of opportunity to change Jordan, he hasn't.. .
Jordan has been picked as skipper by Klopp, by Rodgers, by his national managers at full and u21 levels.
Let alone been spoken of as the next captain by the likes of Steven and Carra. Do you hear them say it's the wrong decision now?

I personally dont see anyone else in the  squad more of a leader, maybe that says something about the squad I dont know but I don't.

If i had my choice of this current squad?

      Henderson
      Lallana
      Matip
