Apparently the guy who painted the creases used the wrong sized brush, i demand a rematch

Anyone know what Johnny Bairstow has done then?

Still in the match up until half-way through our second innings, all downhill from there.

      Good win for the Aussies.

England need to improve for the day/nighter in Adelaide.

I'm no expert but what's the deal with Jake Ball and what are your guys opinion on him? (Know next to nothing about the lad). I went to bed after Broad and Anderson did the damage with the new ball in Australia's first innings then came the rumoured injury to Anderson and the ball was thrown to Jake Ball who did absolutely nothing with it. All the momentum just seemed to sap right there. Just seemed to go from the brilliant to the banal for England.

Got to be honest, first time I've seen Ball, I haven't been impressed by him or Woakes in this test.

The English thug, most probably influence by the behaviour of the defecting deviant that is Ben Stokes, brutally headbutted our noble steed Cameron Bancroft in a ploy to unsettle him ahead of his baptism in the cauldron that is The Ashes.

      Disgusting.

I could write for an English rag.

Looked fairly even this test for the first three days but I don't know what's happened to Alistair Cook.  Certainly looks like his best days are behind him now.

You can't get 9 from two innings as an opening batsmen.  England probably needed another 50 in their first innings and another 100 in their second innings.  Also not helped that Moeen Ali isn't 100% fit.

Shame that Ben Stokes punched that fella wasn't it!

1-0, almost, to the Aussies.  Ah well.

Yeah ironically we seem to have found a good opening partner for him at last but he is approaching the twilight of his international career now, stil laughing at his mate swann defending his second innings shot by saying he didn't expect a bouncer from hazlewood,  how many ashes series has he played in

Jake Ball has been around a while and done nothing. We've got carried away like we always do in Australia because he's tall. Remember Boyd Rankin?

He'll be fu**ed off now I hope for Overton who hopefully will be a bit more accurate at the very least.

Let's face it headbutting an aussie won't cause any damage to them

Ball isn't good enough for England. Overton needs to play in Adelaide and we should seriously consider bringing Wood across for the Perth test.

Also another genuine question - if the tables were turned and it was an Aussie player in Stokes' position do you think they would have left him at home? I don't think so. Just get him on the plane and out there. He'd bulk up the batting (something we desperately need) and gives us another bowling option.

England need to bat better which I think they will but the more worrying aspect is that England only seem to have 2 dangerous bowlers, Anderson and Broad, the others were bloody useless, incl Moeen.

Moeen has split the webbing on his spinning finger.

It may be an excuse but it's a valid one for a spinner

was not aware of that, yes that would be a big issue for a spinner, good job we have plenty of other good bowlers, oh!

Reminds me of the stories of spinners sticking their spinning fingers in piss to help heal calluses

Overton is a superior bowler to Ball. Lands the ball on a good length and his extra bounce makes things happen.

Unlike Ball hes happy to be 80mph and has much better control of line and length because of it.

Bowling 90mpm is the Aussies bag because of the pitches they are brought up on, but its not our forte so we shouldn't get caught up trying to emulate them.

Going to be a pretty painful 50 to concede this to Khawaja who is fairly hopeless in reality.

Nkt looking like a bowl first pitch to be honest. All the signs that we've played in to Australia and Lyons hands here.

Going to be hard this game.
