This is England. They will go on to lose this game somehow.

If so, we're in for a couple F***ing fun days of cricket :D

But seriously I think Anderson hit on something when he said Australia managed to kept their 3 quicks fit for the first 3 games. The depth doesn't look there for Australia.

Stark made me laugh struggling to comprehend that statement because the Aussie depth had not been tested.

Without Stark the whole dynamic of the series has changed IMO. England could go on to lose this 3-2 where previously it was looking like 5-0.

Have to admit to struggling to stay interested now though. Feels a little bit like making Federer play 5 sets when hes 3-0 up.

Roger Federer or our very own Federer

Watched the morning and afternoon sessions before I finally went to bed. Was awesome watching Cook. Absolutely stunning effort. Not so from Root, Bairstow and Ali - those were stupid, careless wickets that were given away. Shots that just spoke of a disrespect to test cricket.

      Well played Cook.

      Quote
Alastair Cook is the first England opener to carry his bat since Michael Atherton at Christchurch in 1997
He is the first opener to carry his bat in an Ashes Test since Geoffrey Boycott at Perth in 1979
He is the first opener to carry his bat in a Test at the MCG
His 244 not out is the highest score by an opener carrying his bat, beating New Zealander Glenn Turner's unbeaten 223 in 1972

Australia racking up the runs pretty quick now though - England putting all their eggs in the basket that this ball is going to swing.

If you can't take 20 wickets you can't win test matches.

Curran looks alright as a support bowler to Anderson and Broad but have you lot got no spinners at all? Ali has been custard. And he can't bat.

Hes a gpod player Ali having a bad series, but he is a second spinner whos value is in his all round game. He has won England games with bat and ball in the past. Some times with one man shows.

But yeah England have been blinded by his success in to thinking they can go away from home and use him as the only spinner.

Its a far cry from the days we used to create dry pitches for home ashes series so Swann could blow you lot away. Swann or someone like that might have won us a game but theres nothing coming through in England except a few one day leggies.

As for this game Australia gave England a chance with these conditions of at least not losing, but why on earth would any groundsman want to force that pitch on the paying public?

Good last 10 balls for Australia - 2 wickets.  England going to be struggling to make 300 here 1st innings.

Thank F**k for the new ball...was looking a good day for England until those last 2 wickets late. Even Stevens at the moment.

      The tail is wagging!

Not arsed if Tom Curran can bowl if he can come in and hit a 38.

England in danger now of setting a competitive first innings score.

F**k predicted 5-0 and my home town pitch let us F***ing down. Anyway get the F**k in Aussies, brilliant series win. Got to give a shout out to Joe Root. Unbelievable to go out there and bat as long as he did when he was obviously suffering heavily.
