Always thought a straight Red was an automatic 3 game ban

2 yellows to get a Red was an automatic 1 week ban.

Have the rules changed?

Expecting Virg to sit out 4 games, the extra game for the "abuse".

I thought it was 3 for violent conduct and 1 for non violent ( like denying obvious goal scoring opportunity).

It's a two game ban. One for the red card, one for dissent.....

having watched some footie over the weekend I am pissed off once more with REFS and CONSISTENCY. I saw players kick the ball away and not punished and I saw tackles in and around the box that went unpunished and they had far more intent than Virgil tackle had. I also saw comments about "just a coming together" which is exactly what Virgil did whilst winning the ball. Looks like we are in for a rocky season with this current shower of FA morons on and off the pitch and FFS how long do we have to suffer Mike Dean on SKY

To which his response would have been "oh f*ck off" 

Embarrassing they've upped his ban. I don't think van dijk gets sent off alot and is never getting in trouble with authorities.

First offence should have been a large fine and at worse a fine and suspended ban.

But as its us ... and they left if long enough almost 2 weeks after the charge to ban him ensuring its an away game. Pathetic.

As per , you'll see much worse this season from little c*nts like Fernández and others that will just get brushed under the carpet now van dijk has been made an example of.

VVD deserved both the red card and the additional punishment.
I'm glad the referees are finally cracking down on the verbal abuse flung at them every match.
There is no other sport on the planet that allows such ref abuse.

And the LFC captain needs to be better.

Not surprising. The rule/judgement I don't have an issue with. Just the fact we will see this thing happrn about 100 time throughout the season from different players and only a handful will get punished for it (like to be wrong but just feel as season goes on official's will let it slide)

he has one more game ban. However these idiots and there laws do not understand FOOTBALL had it been 6 ft further on he wold have got a yellow Card and a penalty instead he is banned and fined .
