In his interviews, he is keeping his future open for options.

He is replaceable but won't come cheap.

Trent, Salah and him are playing professionally and up to standard.

I don't want to be seeing a defence without him for us in the next few years.   Before he came we couldn't defend to save our lives and also when he was out with that horrific injury.   I'd like to believe we can keep him and his presence and wisdom for the likes of Quansa and Nallo is priceless.    Hands need to go in pockets and pay him.

Very much so. Only this club would let 3 players of trent, virg and Mo calibre get into the last 9 months of their deals. Far too many assets have left for free in recent years. Poor business from the club. Yet they continued to throw millions at keita, chamberlain, thiago etc ...

Sort new deals out. Even if they dont see them to the end at least you get something to put towards replacements.

I dont want the excuses next summer 2025 when fsg leak out they cant do the business they should have done this summer 2024, next summer becsuse Mo, virg etc also need replacing. And as John said to the boston faithful when he was bood out of the building, good players cost money.

I personally don't think we have done bad business.  On the contrary.  In fact I have been happy to let players go for free especially when they have had a good 5 year plus for us.  I think klopp didn't like lots of player Turnover.

We could have sold Salah last year for 150m the club decided against it, so for me they have to be commended for that.  It's a statement, we don't sell our best players.

I'm hoping they manage to strike a deal with VVD. It is late in the day and might need to over their comfort zone for the Captain.

We all get frustrated from time to time but our transfer policy can't be classified as a failure.

I mean 150m is a lot of money but where do you draw the line.  Chiesa for 10m. Would we have done that? No and rightly so.

Don am with you that this situation is a catastrophe, but not that our transfers as a whole been poor.

VVD will be 34 next summer

Got to ensure that giving an extension is the right choice

There is hardly 9 months left he is first cb on the team sheet.  Need to get him signed up.  Personally don't buy the club are considering whether it is the right choice.  The ball is in the players court, me thinks. The club are hardly going to come out and say we have offered him a contract.  They just need to satisfy him.  To be honest anything over a 2 year contract is going to be difficult at his age.

Let's hope Richard cracks on with it after the transfer window closes.

He has said that there has been no contact from the club re: a new contract. I'm not sure how it can be in his hands dude? He's playing superbly and it's also worht noting he is (and i guess he will continue) getting more protection from the midfield in Slot's set up. Things got stretched and frantic under Klopp at times, that was fine when he was a bit younger but as he ages, this more patient build up (and shape) is perfect fro prolonging his career. If the club are thinking one year extension only (i'd give him two all day long) then atleast offer it to him. Stop sitting on their hands.

I thought at the time that we can't have not offered him a contract.  Probably low balled him. But if Salah is saying the same thing that there has been no contract offer.  Maybe the club haven't offered these lot at all.  What are they waiting for?  Waiting till January to see if some makes an offer for them?  Get it done and fast!

VVD is in the stronger position the club could be losing a world class superstar player for nothing.

Seems to me both Mo and VVD have blinked, which from a management perspective, suggests the team has secured a bit of leverage. Waiting to understand a player's intentions vs chasing after an unknown may make negotiations less contentious and more team friendly.

I can understand a little better now holding off contracts for Mo and Trent, but not this guy….he’s still the best of the best.
