You haven't said why we would fall apart. Since he plays in almost every game the evidence is very thin anyway.

Of all time is a big claim, I know. Beckenbauer, Baresi, Nesta, Bobby Moore etc - I just think VVD exceeds them all in physicality, and he doesn't have a single weakness. Baresi and Nesta played in very defensively orientated teams, and the others are too far back for meaningful comparison. The closest in the modern game is Rio Ferdinand, but Virgil is better in every single metric.

I didn't say "We'd fall apart"..I said without him "We're all over the place"...as you rightly say, he misses so few games it becomes a redundant point. I think the team loses "something" if and when he's absent...Will that do you?

I'm still stunned about the PSG game where Dembele got the ball and Virg ran the other way, opening up a beautiful scoring position for Dembele until the Genius Ali saved ours and Virg's arses.
