Turning 28 this summer, how many years at his peak do we have left of him? He is just an amazing defender.

At least 4, barring injuries, I reckon.

      I think heā€™ll ā€œbat longā€ Swab - physically heā€™s so lean and itā€™s so effortless.

Could be 7 or 8 easily.

Could easily go for about 5-6 years IMO.

12 fouls committed the whole season, and 1 yellow card.

      Beast.

Easy - heā€™ll be top notch until 36 (hopefully no serious injuries)

If Iā€™m thinking of the right player here...much like Nesta who never really declined with age.

Pretty much the whole Milan backline:

      Nesta
      Costacurta
      Maldini

      What a team that was

I can't stand the bloke. Not only is he tall and handsome ,rich beyond most peoples dream he plays for Liverpool too . He just seemed to be the missing piece in Jurgens puzzle and once in everything else seemed to click into place.
I hope he realises just how much we appreciate him.

At times watching a team have a few consecutive corners in a short period of times, and him heading everyone out for a second has had me think how many Van Dijk's are there on the pitch?

Exactly mate, why not? Modric got it last year only because he played for those cu*ts!

The way I see it is that we got in the final last season and if we win it then he has to win it.   Because we have beaten Barca, Bayern and PSG on the way and it should be our best player this season.

This is great - and 100% accurate in footballing terms this season. The beast and the best of the big men.......

      Quote from 7-King Kenny-7
A few weeks ago Hazard was apparently going to become the first player to dribble past Virgil this season. Didnā€™t happen.

We then got drawn with Barca in Europe and the greatest ever player was apparently going to come out on top against the best defender in the world. 2 games later, still nobody has managed to take the ball past Virgil this season

After the first leg of the semi final, one pundit billed it as Messi v VVD, explaining how and why Messi won it hands down.

VVD is going to Madrid to bring back the European Cup, and Messi is going to the Copa America.
