Any update? Possible ligaments Id say

We'll have to wait and see but I'd be surprised if he plays for us again this season.

Rumour VVD has done his ACL and is out for 8 months.

We'll have to sign a quality CB in January now although I think we needed to anyway.

Wouldn't mind bringing Conor Coady back to the club.

Maybe this will put an end to the belief that we never get injuries. Then again probably not. We’d need to have half the squad get COVID and the other half broken legs before that was even considered a possibility.

I did think that it would be ligament damage given his leg was planted but hoped it wasn’t cruciate. Wish the big man a speedy recovery.

It was a huge risk doing what we did and while Thiago and Jota were good additions for me the priority was CB. We now have 2 proper ones left. Any club we deal with now knows we are desperate.

3 CBs was never going to be enough and the worrying thing is the other 2 that are left are both injury prone and 1 of them is having a total shocker this season as it is.

Hope his surgery is a success but it might not be just his season that's over here.

Still hoping that there is good news.  losing VVD for a long period is going to destroy our season.  I really wanted another defender like most and felt it was a risky decision with the 3 defenders we have but whether we signed one or two losing VVD is huge the loss can't be made up there isn't another CB in the world like him.

Not yet officially confirmed, but news has come out he has torn his ACL. Done for the season.

Massive blow this and someone should go and hit that pr**k Pickford in the F***ing face. Absolutely appaling challenge.

      Absolutely gutted.

Feels like it’s going to be Fabinho and Gomez as the main centre backs.

When will any official announcement be made? I’m guessing that any surgery would have been done already so they will know the details?
Or are they still waiting for the scan results and swelling to go down etc?

ACL confirmation can take a while - depends if the scan is clear enough with all the swelling around the area.

The physio would have done some initial tests on the pitch before the swelling so he's probably got a good idea what's happened but we'll need the scan.

If he's having surgery it won't be for a few days at least.

So rumours atm are just guesswork? It could still be a minor injury??? (Hoping)

I think given the high impact and the fact Virgil normally plays through pain but this time went straight for his knee, it's almost certain that this is a major injury. Full extent is probably rumours at the this point.

First let me state that Prickford's tackle was rude and dumb (but so was what Mané did early against Arsenal, it happens). But VVD is at fault here mainly. If you play soccer you learn pretty soon to not put your legs down on the pitch when someone tackles precisely because what happened to VVD. Normally Pickford just tackles VVD and in the moment of the tackle VVD loosens his legs from the ground a bit, so he gets smashed but nothing serious happens. Trust me: anybody with some serious skills and training knows it. No idea why VVD stood like a statue there..., probably just an instance of sh*t happens.

VVD could walk, so that's a sign it isn't a real blow because in the season-ending cases of ACL the guys are on stretchers. I'd think 3-6 months. Could be back for CL KO stages. I hope Thiago is alright, no bad rumours about him and I hope that's a good sign.

As the Virgin Mary said , Come again ? Wtf are you on about Virgil is at fault
