Apparently, she was pissed as well.

      She didn't bring any charges.

      What difference does that make?

The CCTV camera evidence showed exactly how he was dealing with her.

Ahhh that is so sad. He needs to get himself sorted out. Always thought he was a good kid but obviously big issues there he needs to deal with.

Can't go about kicking women and he needs to be punished and then helped.

Premier league career in tatters not just with us now. Not many football league clubs will be coming in for him either now.

      A career at Blackpool awaits.

He's not good enough to play at LFC. Not sure what responsibility the club have to ensuring a highly paid grown up behaves properly.

We don't specialise in social work.

Whether heā€™s good enough as a footballer is irrelevant.

Iā€™m not talking about social work - Iā€™m talking about demonstrating that we take these things seriously.

Sacking him just looks like weā€™re protecting the ā€œbrandā€.

Obviously the lad needs help, and hope he gets it. Calling what he did a mistake kinda makes it sound less bad than it is, but hope he gets his life straight and doesnā€™t do something like this again.

Anyway donā€™t think heā€™ll play for Liverpool again after this.

Sorry but you donā€™t slap your partner about, however pissed you are. Iā€™ve been with my wife since 2000 and never laid a finger (weā€™ve had our F***ing fair share of rows!)

He needs to go and get help

Clearly the lad has had something bottled up & has underlying issues for a while & it's surfaced on the night of the assault...

Footballers are human too, maybe injuries, lack of playing time & the realisation of no longer being at his hometown club has become too much for the lad..

What a load of sh*t. Defending the indefensible there making out his circumstances make this understandable.

No matter how much stress he's under or whatever, hitting his chick is not defensible. Maybe he's just a pr**k, which seems far more likely. Hope he gets shown the door myself.

What a bizarre story. Very embarrassing for both flanno and the club.

I'm sure the official twitter account wished him a happy birthday only a day or two ago though and you would think the club would know the details of what happened by now.

As far as his future goes then he needs to leave. Not because of this story, but because he just isn't good enough at this level. Clyne, Gomez and Trent are all ahead of him in pecking order.

This story is certainly disappointing but I wouldn't lock him up and throw away the key like some of you are making out. He has been a bad tit when he's had a drink. Not defending him but haven't we all done something stupid in our lives at some point? Especially when drunk?

If it was that bad then his girlfriend would leave him and press charges but she hasn't. The article says he isn't facing any serious punishment either.

We all deserve a second chance. Even when we have done something as stupid as this.

I'm sure he's apologised to his girlfriend and is trying his best to make it up to her. Good luck to them and I hope this is the last time we hear his name for bad reasons.

I see there aren't many defending the man, i wonder if he was whipping in the crosses and assisting in goals it would be different, Suarez could bite the head off of a player and hardly a peep out of us i recollect, F***ing PC brigade sh*t happens .

It's the truth, Firmino got caught drink driving last year and no shouts of sack him was there , but because Flanagan went off the boil he's fair game get to grips every one fucks up so what , you'd swear you were personally paying his wages.Bye the way drink driving takes lives.

So you are equating Suarez taking a nibble of another player the same as Flanno kicking seven bells out of a young female?

Club surely has to cut ties with him. Donā€™t care if it was Firmino or Mane or whoever, beating another human requires a stiff penalty. Iā€™m all for grace but thereā€™s a point where what you do is so heinous that you need to be punished severely to learn a lesson.

This is a very deeply embedded issue (domestic violence) in American Sports right now. Itā€™s happening way too often and itā€™s only now being dealt with as harshly as it should.

If it was serious his bird would have left him and pressed charges - she hasn't.

The CPS would be all over him but the article says he won't face any serious punishment.

So whatever happened is not considered serious.

He's volley'd his bird up the arse when he's been pissed. A knobhead thing to do but hardly 'kicked seven bells' out of a woman.

If his girlfriend can forgive him I'm sure anybody on this forum can.

He's been a silly kunt, pissed or not you don't batter your woman home or away,

As for help the club should offer Jon the opportunity to sort himself out, with councelling, he's still contracted to the club, although its clear his playing time is over,

Dunno if his actions warrant a contract termination but it is close to the bone and i guess he'll be advised accordingly.

OK I'm starting to get a much better understanding of you now, condoning assault against woman with the if she didn't report it then it can't be serious bullshit. I don't give a F**k if he was pissed or not a real man never ever lays a hand on a woman, only cowards and bullies do that and to condone it or try to brush it under the carpet is not much better in my opinion.

Flanagan should be released from his contract with immediate effect, he's F***ing useless to us anyway.

Firstly, for some women, no matter what happens they stick by. Abuse.. or neglect. Take Rooney's wife for example. Numberless affairs, but she continually stays with him. Makes no complaint. Normal life. Doesn't make it right - nor does it take away the actions.

As for the player issue, I've always said it straight. I was happy to call out Suarez and Firmino for their actions, and now this one. To me, it doesn't matter who you are or how many goals you score.

See how MOTD got rid of Sinclair? See how other organisations sack staff for poor conduct that could bring embarrassment to the firm?
