If we could just sort out that GK problem we'd be half way there, A traffic cone would have done better for that goal. I wouldn't mind if he had even tried to save it.

Not just Bolasie...the whole Everton team. Given the occasion and the high stakes that was the best left back display I've seen in years and years. Left Moreno choking on his dust in the race for that left back position.

      Agreed - he was terrific.

Have watched him sweep for Scotland for years - outstanding.

Robertson's best game for us, but gave VVD the MOTM for being solid on his debut and scoring the winner :) Dream start.
Not our best performance, but a good win after a busy Xmas.
Lallana and Mane were quiet imho, Bob worked hard but again at times just needs to hold the ball up a bit better when we're under pressure.
      Well in Jürgen!

Thought we were very poor in the middle tonight, and though Gomez looked out of sorts, but VVD and Robertson were outstanding

We were and Can was utterly shocking. Seriously - what the f**k do Juventus see in him? That he had the armband on late on on the basis that he was the most experienced player on the field just shows how long we've tolerated and kept hold of mediocrity at this club.

And boy, if we fail to plug the very sizeable hole in the team that will be caused by Coutinho's exit then we'll probably have to put up with more performances like that from our midfield for the rest of the season.

Watched the replay, getting worried that Karius did not even attempt to dive to save. Stood there bolted onto the ground. Poor anticipation and no attempt made to prevent the goal.

Don't think he could do much about the goal

Virtually stopped and stood still to watch Sigurdson score.

i think he kicked it down the middle because keeper went down early. Initially it did look a weak penalty without seeing the replay.

There àrent many things sweeter than beating Fat Sam so him getting the bitters job makes it even sweeter. I'm only gutted the BBC didn't stay on long enough to hear him ranting about the penno (that's  Karma for ya Sam!).

Typical derby game from the moment we scored the penno. Delighted for Van Dyke, he had an excellent game defensively and if Ox can continue with that quality of delivery at set pieces he will surely score a few more this season. I thought Robbo was our best player, particularly in the first half. Closely followed by VVD and then Mane who was lively without quite finding his end product.

You can b*tch as long as you want. Milner wasn't looking out the goalie and look to where he shot! If the keeper changes the side he'd have had the ball. Textbook bs penalty.

One shot on target and one goal. Says it all mate.

      His distribution was sh*t too

Clearly possessed by the ghost of Mignolet today at times. That said, it's a rare exception in that he's performed well enough in the other games he has played so we know his performance peak is a lot higher than Mignolet's.

But we need an upgrade...and another goalkeeping coach if that upgrade fails.

      1. Karius is still a liability.
      2. Virgil has defensive presence and brings us a new dimension for corners and free kicks. Yummi.
      3. Milner should be banned from penalty kicks, didn't look and shot poorly, if the goalie is in the other corner he saves it with ease.
      4. Robertson is as good as Moreno, plus has brain, so I say: Robertson > Moreno.
      5. Ox becomes more and more my vote as the new "Coutinho", still raw, but HUGE potential.
      6. Lallana still not there, but it looks promising.
      7. TAA > Gomez.
      8. Salah was in the stands, kudos, Coutinho wasn't,
      9. Overall a decent game considering our two best players were absent.
What did Karius do wrong? It's virtually impossible to save shots like the conceded goal.

Watch it again, he opens up his body like he is going to push it keepers left and then as the keeper bites he wraps his foot around the ball and straightens up with the keeper stranded. Any pen that goes in is a decent pen. Millers record at pens prior to his recent wobble has been excellent.

As for your comments regards Ox, hi set pieces today were superb but his overall performance was a million miles from being the 'new Coutinho'. He's a battler and a grafter but a million miles from the Brazilian.

I think you might just enjoy being a bit controversial.

Karius half a sleep most of the night, Virgil had to hurry him up a few times, Robbo excellent again.

I'll take your word for it because can't be bothered to see replay. Won't miss Can to be honest. He's persistently below par.
