Dont come much bigger than this, massive 3 points at stake a home win would be brilliant, and send a message out the title is not over yet.

Bit ironic that the game after coutinho leaves is the exact game countinho usually played a blinder in, remember a few games down the line against city where coutinho popped up with a few great goals.

Mindboggling we couldn't even force C. for this game to stay. Just insane to let your diamond leave in January and before the toughest test. I don't see how we win this. Maybe serving City players some questionable food before the game starts?

What's the point? I've been reading on here we have a decimated playing staff and are a mid-table, Europa league team at best.

They do come much bigger than this. Its not a massive 3 points as opposed to any other 3 points. And the league title is well wrapped up.

All that aside we will be the first side to beat city this sesson

I am not bothered about Coutinho anymore, he is not here. We can stick Mane, Firmino and Salah on.. Sturridge and Woodburn on bench. I think Woodburn can replace Coutinho. Coutinho spent almost 200 days over 5 years injured anyway.

From the corresponding fixture last season.
Which Gini won with a header. (1-0)

Add TAA or Gomez, van Dijk, Robertson & Oxlade-Chamberlin and obviously Salah if he's fit.

      Both teams stronger now.

This will be vvd's biggest test, I have no probs with couts gone, our forwards will cause problems, if they get service.   I'd put ox in mid with Lanalla just in front. Robertson has to start, great outlet.  I'm going for a win

Yes, but Lazar Markovic is just too compelling a persona to ignore.

In order to get our best 11 (available) players on the pitch, I think I'd go for a 3-4-3  -- could also be seen as a 5-2-3 when defending.  City will dominate the ball, so we should look to hit them on the counter using the pace of Mane and Salah.  I expect our wide players to basically play as wingbacks, so the onus would mostly fall on one of Gini or Can to join in and add a 4th player to the attack.  I'd go for:

      Migs
      Gomez - Matip - VVD
      Chambo - Gini - Can - Robbo
      Salah - Bobby - Mane

      Karius (I guess...)

      Gomez
      Matip
      VVD
      Robertson

      Gini
      Can
      Chamberlain

      Salah
      Mane
      Firmino

I'm shitting myself with them having so many players whose strengths are playing in between the lines of midfield and defence, which is the defensive weakness of our CM's.

Why - because of their exceptional form this season or because the sky is falling in cos little Phil has gone?

Mainly the fact that City are unstoppable, but also due to the fact our best player in thi fixture for the last 3-4 years is no longer here, and I do not expect Gini / lallana to have the same affect
