A win would be massive, no, more like MASSIVE!! But can't see it tho, hope the boys prove me wrong, the pessimist in me see us losing our first home game of the season, and we the fans losing our minds afterwards. Bummer.

Mainly the fact that City are unstoppable, but also due to the fact our best player in thi fixture for the last 3-4 years is no longer here, and I do not expect Gini / lallana to have the same affect

Gini did ok scoring the winner last year - with no Coutinho.

I think we’ll be just fine.

Ahhh ... let's not talk about Cou anymore. He's gone, as if he still remember us. We move on and upwards. 5-0 thrashing the last round serves as a reminder to the lads to go out fighting like a wounded beast.

He doesn't need an armband to show he's the best leader out there. I think people already see it.

Just need to remind Can that if a player goes past you, don’t forlornly jog after him, put the F***ing afterburners on and show the f**ker he ain’t getting any free time on the ball.
      Then we’ll be ok. 2:1 us !

Would like to see a win, as would all of us, but I’d be surprised tbh. I think it’ll be a hard earned point, but I’m more than happy to be proven wrong 😎

They’re not unstoppable. They’re on fire, but there have been a number of times their luck has come through. Luck DOES run out at some time. We just have to work at reducing their luck...

I think we can win this, but we have to be on our game, we need Mane to find his form again and the defence to be rock solid.

So, coutinho would have been injured for this anyway?

I think our starting 11 is Strong enough to at least match these, Manè, Firmino and salah up top with Gini ox and lallana behind isn't a shabby front 6, throw the fact that we have VVD, an actual commanding CB we have a shot in my opinion

      Karius (I guess...)

      Gomez
      Matip
      VVD
      Robertson

      Gini
      Can
      Chamberlain

      Salah
      Mane
      Firmino

I'm shitting myself with them having so many players whose strengths are playing in between the lines of midfield and defence, which is the defensive weakness of our CM's.

I would go with this aside from having Arnold instead of Gomez, and Milner in defensive mid instead of Can.

Huge test for VVD and rest of team for that matter. Would be sweet to deal their first loss of the season, but I honestly wouldn't begrudge the team if we don't get a result, City have pretty much top caliber players in every position.

What I wouldn't forgive is a stupid red card and a capitulation like last time.

3-1 to the red men. Mane 2 and Salah wrapping things up late on as City chase the equaliser.

We LOVE playing teams like this at Anfield, it’s going to be amazing.

F**k off Coutinho, you’re not allowed to watch this game on the box. Go and suck Suarez’s pecker during the game.

What's the point? I've been reading on here we have a decimated playing staff and are a mid-table, Europa league team at best.

Yeah right, in addition we've just willingly sold our best player. FSG has no ambition. Klopp letting his best player go is beyond understanding. We're gonna get trashed. Selling club and heading down the table. We've lost our soul... the club is dead without C. Owners are greedy. Keeping £142m instead of bankrolling £200m for Neymar type players every season. Fans have gotten depressed. Some sour. Extreme ones have turned bitter.

Suggest they support the bitters or follow C to Barcelona if they love him that much. Both clubs are blue anyway. Go walk alone, those with no hope in your hearts. Wait. Even city is blue, just different shade. Yeah. Just don't watch us play. Ok?

If Salah will be fit, I would replace AOC.

Jordan is fit right? I believe he's better at mopping up than Can. Can execute a killer pass at times too. I'd play Jordan instead of Can.

In order to get our best 11 (available) players on the pitch, I think I'd go for a 3-4-3  -- could also be seen as a 5-2-3 when defending.  City will dominate the ball, so we should look to hit them on the counter using the pace of Mane and Salah.  I expect our wide players to basically play as wingbacks, so the onus would mostly fall on one of Gini or Can to join in and add a 4th player to the attack.  I'd go for:

      Migs
      Gomez - Matip - VVD
      Chambo - Gini - Can - Robbo
      Salah - Bobby - Mane

I see what you want to do, but I think it would be a huge mistake to start with 3 at the back against City. While it might help deal with Sane and Sterling, it'll leave us vulnerable in the middle of the pitch.

Sane and Sterling (even with all his goals) aren't the problem, it's Silva and De Bruyne we need to stop. The midfield battle will be key and a midfield of just Can and Gini won't be enough against Fernandinho, Silva and De Bruyne.

      I'd go with:

Think Trent is better suited to deal with a player like Sane. We're likely to see Gomez start though. Don't want to see Milner in midfield up against City's runners, too slow. Can usually plays well in big games, so counting on him. Wijnaldum and Lallana (hopefully fully fit by then) should provide us with enough energy in the middle. Salah and Mane can enjoy themselves up against Otamendi and Stones.

Was wondering earlier today if Klopp had actually mentioned anything with regards to goalkeepers? Usually he mentions who is going to start, haven't heard anything yet. Only heard that it was 'a good time to rest Simon' in the Fa Cup game. So Mignolet starting probably? Would be nice to see Karius in goal again.

Need Coutinho to be at his best here if we are to have any chance....

Injured.  And we haven't beaten a top six side with him this season so I'd be inclined to play the sort of team that battered Arsenal 4-0.

The only thing we need to fear in this fixture is us not performing to the best of our ability.

If we sort that out, we'll win.
