We will struggle creatively until we replace Coutinho.

So until next season at the very least.

Imagine it, European League adventures with Nathan Redmond's Reds!

Some players on that pitch need to hang their heads in shame.

      The bottlers strike again.

I think that's harsh mate.  Just a bad day at the office but no lack of trying, for me.  Lack of ideas, maybe, and lack of luck.

VVD setting up our two best chances.

      On a plate, too.

      At least he looked good.

Yet he was the one who skewed what should have been 2 consecutive clearances out for successive unnecessary corners and then headed it straight down to Mawson's feet for their goal, although I will concede that he was jumped into by 3 of our owns players!

Is Keita going to unlock packed defences or is he just going to add to the list of players who like running forwards fast?

The lad might make us even harder to play against with the top 6 clashes but againat the bottom feeders he's going to find himself running into a brick wall like the rest of them.

We need some finesse in amongst the chaos i'm afraid.

I think he will help vs bus parkers, he does love his through balls, and whilst he isn't a playmaker,  he will still offer 10x more creativity and positiving/risky passes than Can and Wijnaldum put together, but yeah, we still need a specialist for sure.

Embarrassing result, dominated but the lack of cutting edge and creativity was awful.

Front 3 were appalling, midfield strolled around and offered bugger all.

VVD only player who comes out with any credit.

      Weak mentality and terrible attitude.

Gomez, Can and Gini must be replaced next game, PLEASE.

Don't think tonight's defeat was anything more than us looking tired.

      Boss will sort it.

We had 8 days between games mate, what could they possibly be tired from! No excuses, we were just sh*t on the night.

Suppose we have to give Swansea credit for their defending, but why the hell did Can (on a couple of occasions) and a few others feel the need to shoot from 25 yards? Are we allergic to getting the ball out wide an crossing it?

One of those games. I could probably name the few who are going to make more of it than that.

They had a game plan, stuck to it , it worked all credit to them.
We simply ran out of ideas and looked totally flat with no spark .
At least we have a sh*t load of money in the bank ,  onwards and upwards .

We gave up our key to breaking down these setups (#10) - the same as we did a couple years before that key came along (#7), and a couple years before the key that came before that key came along (#9).

We were woeful all around tonight. Missed more passes in one game than any team of our caliber should in a season.

If he was the key, then what was his excuse last year, or the year before?

If we had Coutinho tonight but still played as lethargic and lacking in idea and composure, the result would not have been a hell of a lot different. This was the sh*t Liverpool we've seen for the last few years, with or without Coutinho.

Thankfully this was the first time in a while. Hopefully a sign we're on the right track that these results seem fewer and far between than previous years, but still something that needs to be sorted out. But Coutinho ain't the key. This is endemic in Liverpool.

To be fair though, don't let the stereotype of the black African midfielder (athletic, strong, not so technical) fool you.
Yeah Keita is great at fast transitions but he's also a great dribbler (has some of the best numbers in the league) and can really pick a pass. Contrast that to, say, Gini Wijnaldum who hardly ever even attempts to take on an opponent, and is very conservative with his passing, and you have a significant improvement going forward.
Is he going to be the answer? I don't expect one single player to solve all our issues, but I am sure he can help a lot.

      Just to expand on this.

Whoscored.com automatically calculate "player traits", "strengths" and "weaknesses" based entirely on the player's performance data in the current season.
I use this website quite a lot for other sort of info but it can be interesting to see this section as well.

      Keita's profile is here: https://www.whoscored.com/Players/243510/Show/Naby-Keita
He's *very strong* for both Dribbling and Through balls. It can be quite rare to find players with "very strong" in attributes (some have "strong" at best), let alone those two. It's a great combination.

This will not change until Liverpool Football Club grows a set of balls and starts acting like the club the owners market it as...

You need genuine quality in as much depth as you can manage.

The owners do not care about winning and they seem delighted to pander to the worst part of Klopp's character, the part where he ignores the fact our squad lacks F***ing depth.

Looked like a lucky bounce to me, or was he slating because of the corner being conceded in the first place?

We survived that crammed January feature though and before the game tonight we had 8 days of rest. That the most rest they've all had this season I feel.
We almost never play well on Monday nights. I wonder why.
