      UEFA Nations League 2019
      Jan 24, 2018 08:35:34 pm
Didn't find a UEFA Nations League topic, so will stick it in here.

Probably not of interest to most...
      https://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/international-soccer/watch-martin-oneill-accuses-rts-tony-odonoghue-of-real-verbal-attack-in-postdenmark-interview-during-frosty-exchange-today-36526308.html#
... but as an Intl Manager, who gets paid a shed load, the least should expect is for him to answer a few questions and not behave like a spoilt spot-popping adolescent child

O'Donoghue definitely has been overly critical in some interviews imo, but O'Neill is loosing friends with his pathetic behaviour. Does he not know we're F***ing watching. I wouldn't mind hearing his answer to some of the questions tbh.

      O'Neill and Keane costing Ireland.
Players leaving the squad & a style of football that will never inspire future generations to kit out for their country.

Wales on fire.  :boxing: :boxing: :boxing:

Bale is outstanding, would love to see Bale here, suits our fast style of play perfectly and his energy is boundless. He loves his country as much as any proud Welshman.

Can someone explain this to me? Is there a major prize for this is it a one off? Is it bigger than the Euro?

Nope not qualifiers just friendlies....think of a reason for "one season wonder" Alli to be glorified for a 5 yard square pass by the commentary team.

They are not completely pointless friendly's since draw seeding for Euro 2020 qualifiers is based on results of the Nations League. How it ties into it I have no idea. I believe playoff spots for Euro 2020 are also tied into it as well

It was Sneijder's Dutch swansong last night and after the match to commemorate his career they hauled out a mock living room onto the pitch. No, seriously.

Looks like the set of a daytime tv programme.

So on top of the Euro/World cup qualifiers, they have basically turned the friendlies into "competitive" games, so more intensive matches for players? Ridiculous.

They are qualifiers, subject to the usual competitive game criteria. A back door route into the next Euros.

Nothing particularly wrong with the idea, except the playoff round in 2020, (the side door route) after the draw for the tournament proper has been made, which will affect tournament preparation.

Hate playoffs. If you haven't made it after 14 qualifiers, you should let those who have, get on with the rest of the competition.
