If the club gets this over the line and we sign Fekir too it will be a massive move forward for us, i feel we're almost there.

No doubt we've turned a corner.
      VVD was a big statement.
      Alisson will be even bigger.
No reason now why we cant challenge for the PL.
      Fantastic times for us 😀

In a way this will be make or break for Achterberg. He's got a reprieve countless times in the last 5 years. Reina was 'past it'. Mignolet 'a Sunderland level player doing what a Sunderland level player does' and Karius a 'inexperienced keeper from mid table Bundesliga'. With Allison he'll get to prove the doubters wrong if our new number 1 succeeds big time but if the questions over our number 1 keeper persist even with Allison on board then there's no escape for Achterberg.

I have no idea how he’s managed to stay at the club under 5 different managers.

The idea of Achterberg experimenting on Allison to be his make it or break it project.. *shudder*

Perhaps we should get rid of him and have a proper fresh start.

I never buy into the 'if he's good enough for 5 different managers then he must be doing something right'.

You only have to look at Martin Skrtel (albeit on the playing staff side of things) to thoroughly disprove that point.

Totally agree, He is a chancer who has not made any difference whatsoever, he is learning from the players he is supposed to be coaching

Of course you know what will happen once Allison is on board. He'll twist his knee in training by which point Karius would have been sent on loan to the Bundesliga to 'regain his confidence' and then we'll have to start the season with Simon Mignolet in goal. Again. I swear to god if that happens I will go F***ing insane and be incarcerated in a mental unit for life.

Ward would be in goal, not as bad as you fear.

I see Ward as being the back up. He has shown enough promise and for him it'd be a step up from collecting splinters off his ass last season so he'd be happy with the role. I imagine Karius will get loaned out to maximize his value then sold next summer. At the price paid, Alisson is here for the long term sink or swim so Karius is not going to want to hang around for an opportunity that simply won't come.

      Indeed.

Are folk still tracking planes and what not?

Me, I've spent the evening enjoying Baby Driver again comfortable in the knowledge this is in the bag.

Something I heard on Taw today...were all going to have to get used to him trying to sucker in defenders with the ball at his feet and learn to not freak out...that video confirms it :)
